Well I finally finished those 4 hours.

Most things that rubbed me the wrong way in the theatrical haven’t changed, obviously, like Barry Allen being a nerdy teen ala Peter Parker instead of being in the same age group as the rest of them, as he should have, or cyborg being a foundin member.

There was no way around it, of course.

But what I REALLY didn’t like was how irrelevant Batman was in this cut. No display of his detective skills, physical skills, nothing. Just some guy with a really expensive suit and tech.
Also, he was given some pretty terrible lines. His interaction with the (also terrible) Joker was cringey as fuck.

And, as some have said, some scenes added nothing but time to the story.

With that said, yeah, it was definitely better than the theatrical cut.
Also, they set shit up for a sequel, even though we know there isn’t going to be one.
Too bad, I would actually like to see them focusing on that timeline with Superman turning heel. They’d prolly make it lame with him redeeming himself at the end with some selfless sacrifice or something stupid, but who knows, maybe not.
Can you imagine seein Super on film going beserk and a killing off a bunch of them (Arthur was already a goner it seems)? I think DC needs to be less formulaic and more…I dunno, adult oriented.

I watched Stargate last night (was scrolling the free stuff on Prime). First time seeing it, and didn’t know exactly what to expect other than a scifi movie. Why did they put Ra into a 14 year old boy’s body? That one confused me, but overall I enjoyed the concept (especially the two Egypt’s on different sides of the universe). I’ll give this one a 7.4 /10.

Also recently on Prime I watched Coming 2 America. This one did have pretty much all of the characters from the original movie, but fell far short IMO. 5/10.

I will say one thing… it floors me how much certain people tie their personal identity into certain movie franchise. Jesus im just happy when I’m entertained anymore and knowing I didn’t waste 90plus minutes of time I won’t get back on a film.

Drives my wife crazy, but I’ll just stop watching a show mid way through a season, or a movie that really sucks (should have turned off Coming 2 America). I figure if the first 30 minutes sucked, what are the chances I enjoy the last 60? I would rather lose 30 minutes than 90.

If your talking Stargate from the 90s that wasn’t a 14 year old boy. May I suggest the movie the Crying Game the same actor is in it. Of course several might suggest against it.

Yeah ill give a movie about 10 to 15 minutes. About the same time I lasted on C2A

Maybe I am just old. I used to think as a 14 Y/O that the seniors were grown ass men. Now I see a senior, and I think it is a middle schooler. 14 was an exaggeration, but I kinda think for the bad guy it was an odd choice.

Just looked up the guy. He was like 25 or 26 at the time. I am surprised.

Lol… I hear you. Im pretty sure I got more years on you I think. Hell my oldest is 22 and he looks like a kid to me.

It’s interesting how that happens. I don’t think that with girls though (not trying to be pervy, some just look like they are 22 at 16).

Yeah that has gotten many men in trouble.

I think that’s a shame. From what I understand, most movies already film far more stuff than they can ever show in the theater. Making longer films that you can watch at your leisure at home seems like a good thing to me. It gives directors the flexibility to make the film they want to make while allowing audiences to actually watch them without devoting an entire day to it.

Obviously films need to be budgeted accordingly. Can’t go filming movies that are 200mil+ just to show them in HBO Max and praying that the subscription fees cover it. I think they can film quality films that are less than 100 mil though.

A lot of films are cut to death in order to fit a certain runtime, and those films would arguably benefit from a move towards home viewing. It’s clear Justice League got the same treatment and the Synder cut is a far, far superior film.

Though I really don’t understand what happened to the villain in the theatrical cut. He literally has different dialogues. I think it would have been really easy to give the villain the exact same motivations in both cuts; you don’t need those long scenes with Darkseid and sequel-baiting to make it clear that he fucked things up and needs to redeem himself to return home.

I watched it twice, hated it both times, and now I don’t remember enough of the movie to know what I hated about it lol. James Spader deserved better.

Maybe with all the crap being produced these days I may actually like it if I watch it again.

Longer runtime = less screenings per day = less profit.

I watched The Empty Man. I’d only recommend watching it if you want to see how a VERY good filmmaker can seriously elevate a shitty script with all the predicable horror tropes patched together followed by a silly conclusion that’s been done a million times before.

I should have known almost everything coming next from the first frame onwards as the story unfolded but this guy made me doubt that I knew what what was coming for 2 hrs. I don’t know if I should feel cheated or excited that I saw some genuine cinematic skill in what should have been a steaming pile of crap. The movie had no right to be anything more than that.

His name is Richard Prior. I googled him and there are 2 directors with the same name and the other one with a large filmography is dead. This is probably his first movie since I couldn’t find any info on him.

I really hope this isn’t a one time fluke like the guys who made It Follows, The Witch and Hereditary (far better movies) before they either disappear or start making self indulgent drivel (The Lighthouse, Midsommar).

4.5/10

they’ve already done this in a video game called injustice + it’s been done in comics

source: my brother is big into superheroes and used to talk to me about it a lot, I personally don’t play video games anymore as I see them as an unproductive use of my limited time (have some health issues, so I get tried a lot (sad face)

If you wanna watch something like an evil superman check out brightburn

Almost forgot. I also watched invictus recently. I liked this one. Morgan freeman has a solid resemblance to mandela. I didn’t know the story, but it was a good one. The effort to build unity shown in the movie was inspirational. 8/10.

Also someone could watch the Boys… Homelander is basically Superman if he was a complete dickhead.

I’m aware but I haven’t read it. Most Marvel and DC comics I read were from my father, and that stuff was from the 70s or 80s I think.
I also read black and white Mandrake comics but I doubt any studio has the guts to touch that.

Thanks, that might be right up my alley, since I loved The Boys.

A year or so ago I was eating with my girlfriend in a Burger King close to a school and a bunch of teens passed by, clearly from the same class.
As the girls passed us by I remarked to my gf how 12th grade was awesome. Then I looked at the boys and I realized they were probably from the 8th grade.
Man, no wonder I wasn’t getting any action with the girls from my class back then.
