The Return of Even More Movies You've Watched This Week III

I found the “fight scene” with Hemsworth and the gang of kids comical, but the scene on the roof was a bit fucked.

Oh no - the fight with Hemsworth and the kids was HILARIOUS, had 0 problems with that. The roof scene is what I meant. Strangely enough, the surprise execution at the beginning didn’t even bother me that much. I dunno where my mind’s tolerance line is, but it lets me know when I’ve crossed it.

Dammit…

Honestly, as much of a spoiler as that sounds, it’s not giving anything away, and you won’t even know what I was referring to til it happens.

Just finished this myself. I agree with the 9/10 rating, and with the strong anti-government emotions. Sure they were doing some illegal stuff, but nothing to warrant that response.

Just watched WACO based on the recommendations here – and because I kind of know the Hispanic ATF agent who was embedded into the Davidians – he’s a pretty good guy. He’s done speeches on what an abuse of power the whole thing was. And the movie wasn’t written by some kook – it was written by the FBI Agent who was on-site to negotiate (and left disgusted by the whole thing).

Also made me go down a rabbit hole of researching the incident pretty hard. Movie is apparently pretty accurate. Considering a handful of agents were shot and killed and the shooters eventually walked out of prison, it was a complete fuck up, from start to finish.

Basically, they had a minor gun charge, and instead of arresting a guy on his regular jog, came in shooting at the dogs and killed one guy standing with his hands up tells you something about the DOJ.

Should be required watching in all American government classes in H.S. The Davidians were weird as fuck, but they should have been left alone in their weirdness.

Haha it’s all good. Hadn’t actually been planning on watching it but maybe I should now. I expected it to be pretty cheesy but reviews sound mostly positive.

Perfect summary IMO.

Bloodshot

It was more entertaining than I expected it to be. I don’t think it would have worked without Vin Diesel. The dude doesn’t speak. He growls. He does seated hammer curls with 120lb dumbbells. I was wondering why Guy Pierce was in it. Then I realized he was there to explain the plot of Memento and to let us know a major plot point in this movie(which you will easily see coming. It’s not Memento) is a homage, not a rip off lololol.

This movie was obviously edited down to be more mainstream. It’s very obvious they edited down and color filtered much of the violence to avoid a harder rating. I also think several scenes involving the characters and plot were cut, with the remaining footage re-sequenced for pacing purposes with the intent to keep this a short, safe, generic action flick.

That’s not too bad, though, if you have nothing better to do and are just looking for some entertaining fluff to pass the time. It could have been better if they didn’t have such low expectations of the audience. That’s all I’m saying. 6/10

Molly’s Game

Fucking fantastic. Might just be the timing, but I haven’t been this into a movie since Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. 10/10

Chastain is my favorite actress who has also had my favorite female roles. It’s a tossup between Emily Blunt and Cate Blanchett for #2.

Funny, I caught this about a month ago and I liked it. Wouldn’t watch it again, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m a sucker for shark movies though.

Enemy

Jake Gyllenhaal is a mopey, bored history professor who sees an actor who looks just like him. Then tries to meet that other more exciting guy. The whole thing is mysterious and artistic. Jake is totally believable as a confused dude. Good movie if you’re ready to pay attention.

Velvet Buzzsaw

Jake Gyllenhaal is an effeminate a critic mincing around the art world. A woman he knows finds some cursed paintings and all kinds of trouble follows. Simple, straightforward horror kinda story. Jake is totally believable as a confused dude. Good movie if you’re ready for something simple.

I watched half of Contagion and turned it off. It was like reading the news for the last couple of months and I do not have a very good opinion of the WHO at the moment, to say the least. Steven Soderberg, however, has to start making proper movies again. He’s too good to just retire and make experimental films. Contagion was his last real movie IIRC. Or was it Magic Mike?

Finally watched it. All I can say is that fingerless lil shit at the end is the type of fucker who comes in here with man tits asking if StrongLifts is the most effective way to lose weight and gain muscle for the ladies… all while is injecting a gram of deca and test.

Right before that I was basically yelling at the lady to stop smiling and cover him. Then she doesn’t even make the shot. I told my wife that’s why women aren’t allowed in combat roles.

I was hoping they were going to start dancing and singing at some point in the movie.

(Oh shut up SJWs. I’ve been a fan of Bollywood movies before most of you were born.)

Watched The Gentlemen. Loved it. 7.5/10.

People call it a “return to form” for Guy Ritchie. I’m of the opinion that Guy Ritchie movies only work really well when he completely despises his characters.

Come on. He clearly loved Aladin.

do you mean Allah-din?

The first episode of Billions S5 sucked. I’d highly recommend the first 3 seasons.
