The Return of Even More Movies You've Watched This Week III

The Informer

This movie could have been good. Very fucking good, in fact, if they had the balls to turn this into a hard-boiled drama with multiple character arcs. That would require faith in the audience.

So, obviously, they decided to go with a routine thriller focussing on one main protagonist and every plot thread that could have been good if developed mostly turn out to be redundant once the cliched ending with a “twist” and the obligatory climatic explosion happens.

TBH, I was pleasantly surprised at how well this was directed and the strength of the performances of most of the cast. The first half of the movie was really engaging. Then it all goes to hell. Fucking waste of talent.

Rambo: Last Blood

If John Wick is a little too soft for you, this should do the trick. It does exactly what a Rambo movie needs to do:

  1. Quickly establish a villain that’s so terrible you can’t wait to watch them die.
  2. Give John Motherfucking Rambo a reason to want those guys dead.
  3. Kill them, ALL of them, in increasingly brutal, barbaric, and satisfying ways.

Fuckin’ A. I loved it.

Hustlers

Mildly engaging chick flick. Tries to be more than it is but fails because they didn’t have the guts to push the edginess to the next level. This movie really had the potential to be much more than this.

Jennifer Lopez is good. Constance Wu is awful as usual.

The critics are full of shit.

LMAO!

Just for kicks, I looked at the critics vs. audience score for those 2 movies ^^.

Rambo: critics 28% fresh, audience 83%

Hustlers: critics 88% fresh, audience 66%

Guess which one I’d pick if I were going to the movies?

Some of them are on a moral crusade to save society from itself rather than reviewing a movie OBJECTIVELY LIKE YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO. The sheer arrogance of these shills. This is how stupid and easily swayed they think their readers are. People aren’t stupid. They’ll just stop trusting them.

It’s pathetic. Review movies objectively. That’s your fucking JOB. You are directly benefitting financially from this. Go write a seperate opinion piece about the movie that has nothing to do with it’s merits within the scope of filmmaking if you agree or disagree with it’s politics.

Battleship Potemkin- Eisenstein 1925

HOLY SHIT the quality was mind blowing!!! I expected to just zone out but I ended up being glued to the screed

Unless @dt79 comes in here after watching it and tells us all that he got an orgasm from it, I’m out, don’t care, don’t wanna know.

Why? It looks amazing.

They interrrupted/inserted/special previewed…whatever you want to call it, one of the Sunday or Monday football broadcasts to promote this movie. I’m feeling a full scale social message coming, and that’s just not why I watch movies.

Also, the Joker was done pretty darn well in the Batman movie, and I’m thinking less is more when it comes to the Joker.

I could be wrong, which is why I left myself an out LOL.

Also, a little bit off topic.

With female actors, when “the machine” wants them to get an Academy award, they lose the makeup and then blah, blah, lots and lots of publicity, then here’s the award.

With male actors, it’s act batshit crazy, or have some kind of disability, then blah, blah, lots of publicity, then here’s the award. I feel that coming for Joaquin Phoenix here.

Finished the series. One of, if not the best sci-fi show I have seen.

Joaquin’s a legit good actor, though. The dude was emoting even in that stupid Nicolas Cage movie about snuff films. There’s something about him that makes me feel like he belongs on a stage instead of the big screen, though.

If you’ve not seen the movie Her, I highly recommend that you do. I think that was his best performance in a movie.

We all know who’s getting Best Actress this year. The chick from Us.

Watched Dave Chappelle’s sticks and stones. It was hilarious, better than the vast majority of the standup on Netflix. Are those pathetic people who cancel people still trying to get it cancelled?

you know the answer to this

I thought it’s been out a few weeks and maybe they’ve moved on.

I tried watching The Green Hornet. It was so boring I couldn’t get past the first half hour despite the fact that the guy that plays Kato is my all-time favorite Asian singer/song-writer.

Then it’s time for Nevsky.

I’ll definitely put that on my watch list
Chapaev (I realize it isn’t Eisenstein) is also one of my favourites.
I never understood Man With a Movie Camera though… so disjointed and random
