I have heard this show referenced so often recently. Worth watching even if it was located in CA (lol…)?
I enjoyed season 1 and 2 because it’s just fun and and due to my love of Stephen King’s earlier novels.
Season 3 felt like the show is starting to be devoured by its own popularity and what people expect from it.
They clearly wrote season 3 with 4 in mind though, so I hope that there are some pay-offs. Otherwise season 3 is a giant… meh to me.
Yeah 3 was kinda flat for me. If i had to say the nostalgia kept me interested since i was a teenager during the time frame of the show.
Honestly, that’s the way I felt about season 2 … I hadn’t heard anything about the series when it was released (season 1) and I was just scrolling through Netflix the day it was released and it looked cool so I watched the first episode and was hooked.
The 2nd season was too hyped for my taste and it was just meh. Haven’t watched season 3 and not sure if I’ll get around to it anytime soon.
My wife has started watching ‘The Act’, I came in about episode 4ish…so I have basically no context, but it’s a fuckin weird show, good as far as acting (I think) but so weird.
Just looked it up on IMDB and it turns out it’s a true crime series…whoa.
Yeah reason 1 I felt was good and i enjoyed. 2 and 3 are just so so.
Just finished this. Absolutely crazy how much was true, what a wild story.
Why did you fuckers cast DONNIE YEN in this??? Now I have to watch it! I’ve never even watched the fucking cartoon!
I don’t even remember the cartoon version but this looks good. Daughter’s still too young to go to the theater but we’ll see it when it comes out on blu-ray/dvd.
Can you recommend some movies this actress has been in? -a) most “face” time b) best overall movie? Thanks!
I’ve only watched one. It was horrific. But this chick can emote.
I tend to stay away from big budget China movies unless the film crew is really good or certain actors like Donnie Yen are in them.
That movie was a remake. You might want to check out the original with the same title. The lead actress was a lot HOTTER.
This is what she looks like at 52 years old.
I heard what you didn’t say…
Old geezers like me should perv after hotties closer to my age?.. ![]()
What? You think too much. I would go after young hotties when I’m that age too.
That older chick became every Asian kid’s wet dream after the original movie was released lol. Liu Yifei is just another pretty face compared to her.
The secret to my success/failure. Like everything else, it depends lol.
Of course you would, you’re male, and you’re Asian. It’s a law of nature, it’s not our fault.
Point Blank (2019) I just like Frank Grillo, I think (not a huge fan of Anthony Mackie, though) it wasn’t a great movie by any means, but it was entertaining. It seemed like they left the ending open to a sequel, which I would totally watch.
Big brother looking after little brother, tries to make a deal with a DA to save little brother from prison time, gets framed by dirty cops for killing DA, shot, taken into custody. Little brother kidnaps a nurse’s pregnant wife, forcing him into breaking big brother out of the hospital. Little brother gets shot and killed by dirty cops, they kidnap wife. Chaos ensues, nurse wants no part of anything until bad guys corner them, he chooses his side, now they’re partners/buds, awful distraction plan involving a gangster that wants to be a movie director. They get the bad guys, a couple of one liners are worth a chuckle, a couple of decent action sequences, and just a generally tried and true format. An enjoyable 6/10 (lack of character development, some missed opportunities, and some weird ‘get out of jail free cards’ written in to help the characters out)
The Lion King?
Ok, I’ve never watched the cartoon. In the live action movie, a pride of lions are keeping the balance by limiting hunting by themselves and other carnivores while protecting the jungle against one group of carnivores, the hyenas, who tend to be insatiatable when it comes to feeding. So the alpha of the pride is accepted and celebrated by all the animals as king of the jungle.
This isn’t a monarchy. It’s fucking ORGANIZED CRIME. They’re a fucking mafia family. Wtf is this shit? Don Simba?
Seriously, I didn’t like it at all. All the voice actors other than Darth Vader suck. I really have nothing good to say about this movie other than the cgi is pretty amazing. Save your money and go watch The Jungle Book again. 5/10 just for the cgi.
The White Storm 2 (2019 HK)
Directed by the guy that gave us Ebola Syndrome (God bless you, Herman Yau). This is a movie about MANLY MEN made for REAL MEN. Because one of the writers is a chick, the main female lead is a prominent(implied) lawyer who does nothing but worry about bearing a son for her husband. She spends most of her screen time time going to doctors for hormone therapy, rushing off to temples to pray and crying when she thinks she may never be able to have kids. This is why women can’t write movie scripts. Biology always wins over logic.
Back to the movie. Andy Lau, THE biggest star in Chinese cinema for the past 25 years, plays a real MEN’S MAN. He’s an ex-gangster turned financial magnate because he suddenly found out he was good at investing and shit after being kicked out of his gang. Lol. Louis Koo, an unfathomably good looking MAN, plays a sociopathic druglord and uses his good looks to distract women like my wife in the cinema so they shut the fuck up while us men are watching the movie.
Andy suddenly finds out he has a teenaged son living in the Philippines who is also a drug addict. His ex-girlfriend, who broke up with him before he left the gang, only decides to tell him NOW that she’s dying of cancer. Because WOMAN. His son dies during a police raid, Andy sees a speech by some guy who’s supposed to be president Duterte on TV talking about his policy of killing all drug pushers in the Philippines and he gets funny ideas.
Next he’s getting some of his old gang pals together and starts an all out war with the HK druglords. Lol. He even places a 100 million bounty for the head of the “biggest druglord in HK”, which royally pisses off the lead cop guy who’s been trying to take them down since now the cops end up having to PROTECT the druglords. LMFAO.
The movie’s plot is ludicrous but executed with deadpan seriousness with just enough black humor to hint that no one is really taking this shit seriously. The car chases and stunts are unreal. There is minimal CGI. Lots of the violence is hilarious without ever being campy. It’s pretty awesome. 7/10.
