The Real Deal: Fats + Carbs

i read here on T-Nation that fats and carbs aren’t supposed to be eaten together now i eat about 8 boiled eggwhites for breakfast and i eat oats , adding more eggs is a problem but i can add more if i make an omlette or scramble them. can i make whole eggs omlette and eat it with my oats or not?

Well said.

Stop worrying about the details until you have a better handle on the big picture.

you want the real deal on fats + carbs? Ok, here it is: it doesn’t matter. combining fats and carbs in the same meal will not make you fat. period.

enjoy your eggs and oatmeal.

thnx .

Wait, did you accept the advice, or ignore it by seemingly accepting the advice? People don’t usually come over this easily…

no i’ll try it tomorrow and give it 4 weeks and see , they say its ok so i’ll give it a run.

I don’t think the fat in eggs is really significant if your gonna have oats too. I always eat steel oats with eggs. I wouldn’t go and add 5 tablespoons of PB though…

and u maintained ur leannes? the point is over the last 7 weeks i went from 130lbs to 142 lbs at my same bf% thats not huge but iam trying to go up a weight class in rowing so my limit is 160lbs am trying to go there but i don’t want excess fat weight which will hold me down and do nothing plus i want to maintain a good strentgh to bw ratio. so as i said i’ll try it.

I personally throw some oats and 3 eggs into a blinder with some skim milk and 3 to 4 scoops of Surge Recovery and you have an amazing shake.

thnx for the advice man i could try it with regular whey cause i don’t have access to Biotest products here in egypt.

go for it, I was mixing it with GNC brand stuff before Biotest.

The whey is a better choice if your gonna make a shake first thing when you wake up – I’d only use Surge PWO, i really don’t know anyone who uses it in the morning.

But yeah, some oats, scoop of whey, 2 eggs, and maybe 1/4 cup cottage cheese is a great shake thats packed with protein and carbs. I tend to leave fat and carbs separate, even if its still okay to use them in the morning together. Just save the PB or w/e your fat of choice is for your next meal combined with protein. The next shake can be all of the above and instead of oats use natural PB.

And yeah, since I’ve started using oats in my breakfast I’ve maintained my BF, and it actually looks like I’m losing although I’m probably just gaining some lean muscle since my workouts have been better w/ the carbs.

No. You did NOTHING wrong. You listened to good advice, which is a rare thing in these parts.

They (and me) are just surprised.

The only way is to try it man, to be honest the mere thought of cottage cheese, olive oil and oregano grosses me out a bit.

Whey + cottage cheese + natural PB

go for it

no prob mak tasted better than the bland eggwhites i used to eat plus it was more filling.

i’ll try the whey, cottage cheese and pb shake sounds nice.

ok did it also today made an eight egg massive scrambling fun put some vanila and cinammon on it tastes so niceeee along with the oats really curbed my sweet tooth for the day, will try the shake before bed. so any one has more recipies??
