Laying on the couch
That’s all for now. I don’t take pictures very often. I am trying to get better at that.
Jamie keeps telling me to take measurements. UHG.
More pics later maybe. I never feel good about myself enough to take any. ![]()

I am still trying to trim a bit of body fat off.
I have been doing cardio, and have altered my diet a bit.
I also started taking Se7en, and Carbolin 19.
I have been doing a more bodybuilding style training split.
I started squatting again! I am trying different stances/foot placing, to see what hurts the least.
^not heavy at all, but it’s a work in progress.
I am going to continue to “cut down” or whatever for a few months.
The idea is to try to really see the muscle that I have, and what areas are lagging.
After that I will decide what my next step will be.
Other than the above stated, my only supplements include whey protein which I use in my morning shake.
Cheers to all!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
_Mel
Looking strong, great work. Merry Christmas
@hkd- Thank you.
I haven’t been training to strength at all, and it’s quite depressing!
I have been struggling a lot with motivation.
I also can barely afford proper food, let alone any supplements.
Life is challenging me right now!
Just trying to fight through…
At least the gym is still free!
Cheers and Happy New Year!

I’m back.
Quick re-cap.
Feb 2013 - My wife left me.
March 2013 - went to a very demanding 4 month long school.
-spent the first two months eating pizza and drinking every day.
-finally decided to get my shit together and get back in the gym.
-May to July 2013, lots of cardio, cut back on drinking. Got mildly better shape.
June 2013 - attempted to play ball. dislocated knee.
Aug 2013 - walking down the street, dislocated knee in middle of road.
Sep 2013 - rock climbing, not wearing knee brace. dislocated knee. huge POP, and pain. knew instantly that was my ACL giving out.
Sep to end of Oct 2013 - No gym, drank every day, got really out of shape.
Oct 20th - KNEE SURGERY. Full ACL reconstruction via hamstring autograft. With a meniscus debridement.
Oct 20th to March 20th 2014- Lost most muscle mass. Gained a lot of fat. Lost most strength.
March 12th 2014 - moved to South Korea. No kitchen. No stove, no oven. no grocery store. Fighting depression. Trying to eat right. Been in the gym mostly every day that I can. Demanding work schedule. Can barely get to gym.
I spent all of 2013 pretty depressed. Drinking a lot. No motivation.
My knee is finally starting to feel stable.
I have been doing all compound movements at the gym.
Lots of circuits and whatnot.
I have not attempted back squats. Front squats feel okay.
Can’t currently DL, because the knee brace gets in the way.
Trap bar DL feel good. SLDL feels good as well.
I also don’t have a vehicle here. So, I walk everywhere. Which is good I suppose.
Cardio has been mostly walking. Some jogging. As tolerated.
I have cut back a lot on drinking since I have been here. I have only been drinking on weekends. I am trying to not drink at all.
I wasn’t weighing myself regularly. However, three weeks after surgery I had lost 15 pounds. All muscle, I’m sure.
Since then, I believe I got up to as high as over 180 lbs. Which is the heaviest I have ever been.
None of my clothes fit. I looked huge. I can’t even stand looking at pictures of myself.
I am still too large. 174 pounds currently. Can’t seem to lose anything. I’m 5’8’', 25 years old.
I have been taking pictures of myself every couple weeks or months. I won’t show them to anyone.
I am so terribly disgusted with myself.
Anywho. This post is an attempt to keep myself accountable.
Cheers everyone!
I’m glad you’re back. When I was first trying to decide if I could commit to a log, I read yours cover to cover. I found it both inspiring and entertaining. I’m so sorry to hear that life’s been kicking you while you’re down but it sounds like you’re starting to fight back. You’re a strong determined lady, and if I could get out of my rut, you sure as he’ll can too (not until two years after I lost my weight would I look back at my ‘fat’ pictures). Keep your head up, it gets better. I’ll be glad to have your log to follow ![]()
You still in the military? (By the way, thank you for serving.) What took you to South Korea?
Mighty Matron- Wow. Thank you so much for your kind words. I am shocked. Thank you. You read my whole log? Wow. I didn’t even think I was that interesting!
I am trying to pull myself out. It’s proving to be difficult. I made a lot of bad decisions and dug my fitness grave very deep. I wish I had a training partner, or someone to keep me motivated, and keep me trucking along.
I am still in the Army. Active Duty. I am stationed here in South Korea, for a year.
Again, your support is very much appreciated. Thank you!
_Mel
Sorry to hear about all the bad stuff going on. I always enjoyed reading your updates. It sounds like you are on the mend. Hopefully Korea treats you well. I look forward to reading more from you. Best of luck with the knee and everything else.
hkd- Thank you very much. I will try to update here frequently. ![]()

I have put together some goals for 2014:
-Body Fat 19 % or under
-Visible 6-pack abs
-Weight under 168lbs
-DL 300lbs
-Front Squat Body weight
-Bench Press Body weight
-BB OHP 115 lbs
-Run 2 miles without pain/dying, in under 19 minutes
-Be able to do sets of dips with 35lb on belt
-Drink alcohol once a month or less.
- Attempt to cut out processed sugar completely from my diet.
I try not to set my goals too lofty. But, I expect a lot of myself at the same time.
I am currently on a permanent, no running profile from the Army.
I am going to try to come off of profile this year, as I will be applying to a SMU. (Special Mission Unit)
Cheers! And thank you everyone for your outpouring of support!
_Mel
SMU sounds like fun. Is the two mile under 19 minutes part of the try out? I seem to remember you are a K9 handler, still working with dogs?
