On a more serial note, with you being the technical guru, what do you feel is the most important technical aspect of sumo pulling? I’m giving sumo a shot and am actually liking it, so would love to get some advices from you.

I know, I’m just busting your chops buggy poo

Although I did feel terrible for not seeing you and Cam on his last day in Boston, I got kidnapped by my lifting partners (literally) to go get sushi after we were done training that Friday night

My goal is to be the ruggedly bear approachable version of Bug

Read Tips

  1. Although, I prefer training the abs isometrically i.e. ab wheel and ab fallouts
  2. If you’re equipped

I also am a Jeremy Frey fanboy, and I think he has the perfect Sumo technique

There’s me 6:20 in with my Sumo if you want to compare

Thanks! Those are some mighty pretty looking pulls.

Yeah, to me those are ideal pulls

I also read his log to get a feel for his interpretation of the Block Concept, I think we both have different ways of doing it, but I still enjoy how he sets up his training.

Week 5, Transmutation Phase

Day 1

Body-weight: 215lbs

Training Maxes

Deadlift - 648.75
Bench Press - 423.75

  1. Deadlift, Beltless -

78% 3x4 510lbs
83% 2x4 535lbs

  1. Bench Press, Pinky on rings, Paused -

70% 3x3 300lbs

3… Block Pull, Beltless -

78% 2x3 510lbs

No videos today unfortunately because my training partners have a meet today, which I’m about to leave my house for. Everything felt good, despite the fact that I absolutely HATE reps on the deadlift, but oh well, it’ll be good for me. Bench was extremely easy, which even with the pause was still “play toy weight” I’m already excited for the next session.

Lol, the math makes sense brah, working out the training maxes the way I do it.

DON’T JUDGE ME

Thanks for stopping by man, I appreciate it greatly

On training related news, my lower back, glutes, and hamstrings are DESTROYED

Don’t let the seemingly low volume fool you, this is still a lot of work.

Amazed you get so many questions about how to set my training cycles up when you put the percentages AND the maxes you’re basing training weights off of up there.

Where’s the transmutation weirdness???

[quote]Stronghold wrote:

I think it’s because the actual lifting set up is weird

Not many people would write something like this from scratch

Competition Deadlift

Bench Variation

Deadlift variation

especially when the only training plan that is similar is Sheiko, but not many people have ever heard of it, or don’t think it works in whatever shape or form.

Then the rep/set schemes are not straightforward either. So I can see why.

It’s hiding in Stronghold’s closet
