I also stepped up to the pull up plate and tried my hand at maxing out. I got 17. I was happy with that.

To me it seems like your used to a certain level of output and you just won’t be happy until you’re there - i know that I’m the same way, so i’d be a hypocrite to try to dissuade you and tell you to back off. I’m one of those ‘learn the hard way’ kind of girls.

That said, what I think what has helped me recently has been organizing my training in a way that allows me to do everything I want in a more mindful way. I don’t want to be annoying, but can I ask you to give us a glance at your weeks training? I’m not sure if you’re like me and have your week all planned out, but if so, maybe seeing where you’re doing what might help find out the best way to set-up your training so that you maximize your efforts, while still allowing for recovery, etc. Kind of like harm reduction?

as for aussie meat pies… i have a rant about them… i’ll try and limit it… in aussie they tend to bake the pies in throw-away aluminum trays rather than pie shaped muffin trays (if that makes sense). that is fine, so far as it goes, but crime of all crimes - they don’t turn the pies out of the trays once they are finished baking so the pastry on the bottom goes all soggy!!! yuk!!! still… in NZ the laws on meat pies were changed to bring them in line with the aussie (more stringent) laws. the ‘meat’ pies now need to contain a minimum of (get this!!!) 20% meat! (they are mostly soy - like hotdog sausages are). even dogfood must contain more meat than that!!! homemade or otherwise gormet meat pies are indeed a wonderful thing, though (my favourite is steak topped with tasty nz aged cheddar cheese). dammit… now i need to go eat, again…

Masch: I still haven’t learned to keep my mouth shut when people break up. Look no further than Cbear’s log for my latest foot in mouth moment. Your comments/ questions were spot on. I’m still struggling with hip pain, so prs aside, I’m still doing something wrong. I know it’s the gymnastics fucking me up. I don’t have the flexibility that I need to do what I want. The good news is that my hip continues to make progress. I think I can work through this. Anyway, I had been lifting and running 4x a week and doing gymnastics 1x a week. Last week, I tried to implement a 3x lifting, 3x running, 2x gymnastics schedule. And the 2x gymnastics got me. It sucks. I guess I’m not ready for that. I’m going to try to be patient. Rest is my friend. Gymnastics 1x a week until my hip feels better-er.

Bre: I’m glad someone else thought the honey badger video was funny. “Honey Badger don’t give a shit.” And yes, I’ve always viewed my boobs as an athletic asset.

Alexus: I’m afraid it is possible to press to a handstand from a straddle sit. every fucking 8 year old on you tube can do it. I want to do it too. Right now, it seems impossible.

Here’s some good feedback I got on my DL video from someone I trust.

“DL’s!!! You are spending too much time in the hole. Dip-Grip-and Rip. You are losing a lot of your stretch reflex when you squat into position then contemplate life. Pull that stuff up off the ground by rocking back into your heels. This is an AGGRESSIVE lift.”

Here’s another response I got from someone, who I assume, needs some help trying to rub one out.

I think I’m going to reset all my lifts after this cycle. I have 5-3-1 squat and MP still to do on Tuesday. But, those lifts are totally fucked and don’t really factor into my analysis at all. The tricky question is whether I reset my DL too. I don’t really want to, but I think I will. ANd in 6 months, after taking my 3 steps back, I’ll be set up perfectly to pull 225 (my previous max) for solid reps and that’s really my next DL goal. Of course, I could change my mind about this. Don’t know.

Lol @ contemplate life. Yeah, you’re not “supposed” to do that. I do better when I just get in position, rip shit up, then done. Staying in the crouched position too long can be disasterous to the lift. But it’s so easy to do, it’s just like “WOW”, ya know?

I sympathize with you on the hip front. Mine was goofy for a good two months not long ago and it sucked to feel like I wasn’t actually progressing on my squats. Now it’s my shoulder (thank you stupid warehouse job), and I’m fighting the urge to pretend like it’s not hurt. Like, every hour of the day so far. laugh Hope you’re able to moderate your activities enough to allow your hip to get back where you want it to be.
