Not been training for the last few days, I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather. Throat has been really sore and I’ve not had much energy, just getting through my shifts at work has been hard enough!

Starting to feel a bit better so I’ll be picking back up with my Deload next week, then i to my peak the week after.

Ultrasound scan done today, and I’ve got Shoulder Bursitis. Seeing my physio Friday to come up with a rehab plan! The Doctor who did the scan said it was about 6 months for full recovery, so looks like no heavy lifting for a while.

That’s not good news. Hopefully you can’t work out a plan that still includes lower body work.

I can train upper body just fine as it stands I just cant go above around 75%, thats when it starts getting uncomfortable and painful. I did 120kg for a triple on Saturday and everything before that was fine, but 120kg started to pull on rep 2, and was a bit painful on rep 3 so I just called the session and went home.

On a related note I’m struggling massively atm, mentally. I’ve got a lot on my plate with work / the wedding in December and the stress of having to pay for it / injuries / the upcoming comp (even though its DL only) and my head just isn’t in training at all. I’m finding myself making any and all excuses just not to bother. My motivation has been almost non-existent the last month or so with the string of injuries.

My shoulder is still causing issues, my knees ache pretty much all the time, and my right knee still isn’t fully healed from it caving on split squats a while ago… it doesn’t impact squatting, but the simple things like walking upstairs and driving cause it to flare up and hurt, I’m kind of in the head space of ‘is it even worth it’

And theres my rant, I’m planning on doing my Bench deload tonight but I guess we’ll see how I feel towards the end of my shift.

Ok, so I didn’t train yesterday as I just didn’t want to :man_shrugging:

I’ve made the decision that I’m taking some down time, no idea for how long. I’m going to be taking a complete break from training, as at the end of the day its just a hobby for me, and I’m not forcing myself to do something I don’t want to.

Hopefully my Knee and Shoulder will sort themselves out faster this way aswell.

Good luck with the break mate. Will you do something else to keep active ?

Apart from work, and my usual stuff probably not, but i work an active job so its no drama. More than anything I need to let my knee rest so I dont want to be doing too much on it.

Saw my Physio last night, with how I described my knee issue and what he could feel going in there he suspects I’ve got a minor tear in my VMO Tendon. Had some soft tissue work done and got some rehab exercises to do, see how things go.

Nothing wrong with a break! Hopefully it’ll reignite that desire to train

My brother recently had an ultrasound diagnosed as bursitis, another specialist diagnosed the same ultrasound as bicipetal tendonitis so just make sure you’re happy with the diagnosis.

Good luck on the recovery though dude.

Ha this makes me very jealous. I gain weight on 2.5-2.7k lol.

I’m happy with the diagnosis. I’ve had surgery for impingement on my right shoulder before, and this felt exactly the same but in my left so I was expecting to be under the knife again. Bursitis is very similar in that it causes impingement, but thats because the Bursa is inflamed so reduces the space for things to move properly.

Been quiet for a little while now. How’s life treating you mate?

I’m pretty good thanks mate, getting married in 2 weeks so I’ve been busy busy!

My knee is completely buggered, jumping through NHS hoops to get an MRI to see whats happening because its a pain just to walk a lot of the time, but hey ho.

My interest and drive for Powerlifting has all but gone, I’ve just been training as best as I can from a health perspective, I don’t think I’ll be stepping onto the platform again :man_shrugging:

Glad you are mostly OK, and exciting news about the wedding, that came round quick!! It must be very frustrating trying to get things sorted through the NHS, I feel for you mate. Glad to hear you have still been training and keeping healthy and if your drive for powerlifting has gone for now then maybe its a good time to just be healthy and grow a little muscle. You are still young so have time to make a come back when you get old like me !! LOL.

Good luck with the wedding and take care of yourself.

Hey Andy, I know this is an old post, but I’m trying to find a clinic in the UK to prescribe TRT for me, most are not willing to help. Who did you use?

Hey Jack, I know this is an old post, but I’m looking for a doc willing to prescribe TRT, are you in the UK also? Any suggestions? Having a bad time of it so far with “not quite low enough” levels

Heya Nath, I’m under Dr. Robert Stevens at The Mens Health Clinic based down in Ferndown near Bornemouth
