That’s the '98 Olympia.
And although not as dry as Ronnie, KevLev looks spectacular and huge!

Aaron Baker was IMO the most overlooked IFBB Pro of his time. Various writings always seem to attribute his poor placings to him being one of the handful of Weider Athletes who defected to Vince McMahon’s short lived WBF during the early 90’s.

And a shame that was. McMahon drew those guys away with big cash.
Labrada vs. Dillet - gotta love that.
Nice trip down memory lane, good thread.
I think it’s a good idea to put this clip here for comparison. Though I do like following modern bodybuilding, it just seems like something about the current crop is “off”. Branch definitely looks like he has Stage I Palumboism here. Arnold Classic 2012 - 1-st Callout - YouTube
Lee priest had awesome genetics, shame he’s such such a douchebag midget.

He does have great genetics, but he’s no douchebag. He’s just always been vocal and honest (often saying what everyone thinks, but don’t have the guts to say it)… and just because he’s short doesn’t mean he’s a midget.
Shawn Ray for me. His physique was godly.
Eddie Robinson was another favorite of mine.
Eddie and Shawn competing as teens…
Whatever happened to Eddie? He was massive!
Years ago my son has some action computer game. On the box was an illustration of a dude that obviously had been drawn from Eddie Robinson’s image.

He competed in the Toronto Pro in 1999, then retired in 2002.
“It got to the point where all of the mass monsters were taking over and I was not willing to put my body through what was necessary to stay competitive against them. My main priorities in my life are my kids and I didn’t want to jeopardize being with them in anyway by compromising my health Also, competing is so time consuming and I wanted to be able to spend as much time with my family as possible.”
Dude i think the big guts are more of an issue of guys being bigger than ever. Eventually when you have 260lbs + of lean mass your core is going to have to grow to support this and most likely will if your using anabolics.

Sounds like a good dude. Hella potential!

He does. I was pleasantly surprised how down to earth he sounds and just a decent guy all around.
“After the Sept. 11 tragedy, I went with a mission group from my church to New York City. We took big moving trucks up there and stopped at every WalMart and Sam’s Club on the way so we could load up with food and supplies for the people there.”

Damn! Just gets better! Seems rare in this oftentimes superficial sport.

GH is the main reason you see the guts on alot of competitors today.

No doubt, but i cannot believe it would be possible to get that big and not have a blocky midsection

True.
Paulie’s right about a waist naturally thickening to support a much larger torso mass, and I have no problem with a bigger waist. It’s the protruding, bloated pot belly that just ruins what I’ve come to love about the proportions of classic bodybuilders.
I think some guys are returning to that classic look while keeping a large amount of mass.
Shawn Rhoden and Ced McMillan are prime examples of this.
