The Next President of the United States: III

We should keep things in perspective when we talk about Trump’s nasty rhetoric, it seems many forgot what Obama said at a 2008 convention in Philadelphia…

He [Obama] warned that the general election campaign could get ugly. “They’re going to try to scare people. They’re going to try to say that ‘that Obama is a scary guy,’ ” he said. A donor yelled out a deep accented “Don’t give in!”

“I won’t but that sounded pretty scary. You’re a tough guy,” Obama said.

“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,” Obama said. “Because from what I understand folks in Philly like a good brawl. I’ve seen Eagles fans.”

So we now have a president who, as a candidate, told his supporters to BRING GUNS IF his critics brought knives.

Short yet concise.

Everyone that is wondering why there is so much more fuss over Trump than Clinton or Obama is missing one key and simple point.

Trump is running to be the leader of the GOP…

Exactly. We already know Clinton is a scum bag.

Zeb, you don’t need the year. I fully recant my earlier assessment of Sander’s chances. Unless he runs as an independent, you were 100% right,

Interesting little toy…I would really like to see a layout of remaining states, delegate count with distribution, and polling for each state.

Anyone know what the hell Kasich is still doing? Maybe sticking around to use himself and his delegates as a bartering chip for VP?

Mostly I’m just giddy that Republicans will finnally be paying attention to us Californians… I can’t remember ever having a chance to even vote in a primary

And that’s before he’s running directly against a woman, going negative against her.

So from the favorability data above…I don’t want to hear another challenge for us to focus fire on Hillary. Not when you Trump supporters and suspiciously defensive Trump non-supporters nominate (or enable the nomination of) a candidate that makes even Clinton look like Mrs. Congeniality. You folks, not us, will be handing the White House over to her on a silver platter. Despise Hillary…Yet support/play defense for the guy who will/is sow civil war amongst Republicans, and whose unfavorable image dwarfs Clinton’s.

Brilliant…

Huh?

I have never and will never vote in a democratic primary or for Hillary Clinton in anything and I am constantly excoriating the only other option that side has (Sanders) here and elsewhere (especially Facebook) because he’s a relative unknown. Once we get to the general election, don’t worry, I’ll gladly denounce her in the most thorough way I possibly can.

I’m not sure what you want me to do? The sky is blue, water is wet, and HRC is a piece of shit…

That or Carson does not have any of the principles we were led to believe.

Legalsteel, you are indeed a rare breed on these threads. In my roughly 15 years on T Natioin I have rarely heard anyone actually admit that they were wrong about anything. Too much youth, testosterone and hubris flying around for anyone to do that. You on the other hand are obviously confident enough to come forward when you find that you were wrong.

I thank you for your candor and my respect for you as a poster on T Nation is grown mightily.

Take care my friend.

I think you have hit the nail on the head. Kasich is staying in for the second spot on the ticket. He is hoping that neither Cruz or Trump hit the magic number of delegates and he can play a major role in putting one of them over the top. Of course the price for his delegates will be a spot on the ticket. Which by the way is not a bad idea anyway as the republicans will never win the White House without Ohio.

As for republicans not paying attention to California there is good reason. Not since 1984 has California actually been won by the republicans. It really has slid off to the left. That is the main reason that republicans always need to win Florida and Ohio in order to balance their guaranteed loss in California.

But not just any woman. Keep in mind Hillary Clinton is viewed as a steely eyed lying nasty bitch. Sort of a combination woman and slithering viper. I honestly don’t think that there is anything that Trump can say about her that will cause voters to think less of him. One more point while you are spot on with your chart, Trumps negatives are higher than Hillary’s it is only because he has been in the spotlight on a regular basis. I assure you the more that people see of Hillary the less they will like her. One reason that the campaign staff is so happy that this whole Bernie thing is starting to go away. They will tuck her away and allow her negatives to fall even further. Smart strategy. But…what will they do during the general election when her negatives will climb higher than mount Everest?

One more time cross party polling at this early stage of the game means practically nothing. There are many former Presidents who trailed their eventual rivals from the other party by higher numbers than Trump trails Clinton at this point in the election and they ended up winning.

The magic is all in the campaign…and of course the more one sees Hillary the less one likes her.

Bingo!

Not unlike the rest of his ilk. They will say or do anything to win, or in this case gain power. Carson will be Secretary of …something should Trump be the eventual winner.

Exactly. I keep hearing about the woman vote, well men vote too. With the indictment looming, in the event she is not indicted, the FBI will leak the indictment anyway. As bad as Trump is, he has never been implicated in Americans dying.

Well said my friend.

Not many people realize that there are two open FBI investigations going on with Hillary Clinton. The first is over her emails and the second is an outright criminal investigation regarding corruption. Last I heard there are over 200 FBI agents working on the two cases.

My only hope is the recommendation for Indictment comes after she secures the nomination. At that point she cannot be replaced. She will continue to run refusing to step down because she is a Clinton. She will claim it is only an accusation, which is true. Just like an arrest an indictment does not mean she is guilty. However, I don’t recall in the history of Presidential politics any candidate running while under indictment. Again, Obama may rescue her and not allow the Justice Department to indict her. But, once the cat is out of the bag she will be looking really, really bad. So, politically it won’t matter if Obama allows the indictment to go through she will still be looking mighty guilty should FBI Director Comey recommend and indictment.

Hillary has been seen for a long time in politics. From wife, senate, Presidential runs. And, Benghazi and the e-mails aren’t just now breaking news for which we can HOPE sinks her chance at the Oval Office. Already known quantities. Her (un)favorable image is what it is because those issues are already known baggage. Yep, none of it is new anymore. Yet, in a short span of time Trump has made Hillary look down right loved by the public. So here you have a Democrat candidate with a likeability problem. Yet, who are the GoP poised to run against her? A guy with positive favorability? Nope. A guy with negatives less, or at least even with, than Hillary’s? Nope. Instead, we’re looking at a guy who comes close to doubling her negative image with the public…It would be a comedy if it didn’t end in serious repercussions.

Further, she has the benefit of fitting solidly within the party platform. Trump doesn’t. Trump’s path to the Whitehouse rests solely on a indictment coming down in time…

By the way, what ISSUES will he attack her on? Maybe something to do with forcing Mexico to build a wall. MAYBE something to do with guns. Health-care? Bwahahaha. He favors single-payer. He is no less progressive than her on the issue. And his preference for single-payer will be highlighted over and over when it comes down to just those two during the General. Spending cuts for entitlement obligations? Nope. Trump is against such a thing. Planned parenthood? Nope Trump supports them. Character? Look above at that image, again.

Now what does HIllary have on trump?

Multiple instances of Trump at least implying protestors should be assaulted (and that he’d pay the legal fees of the assailant, too).

A candidate who can’t get his torture fix from waterboarding alone apparently.

A candidate who at least implied he’d use whatever means to force our servicemen to commit war-crimes against women and children.

An aggressive, nasty candidate, with a record of misogynistic utterances (Megyn Kelly not being the only target) having plenty of time in the spotlight of a General Election to make further such utterances against a female candidate (herself).

Trump was the perfect Candidate to the benefit of Hillary. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Hey, that should be the GoP’s slogan.
