The Next President of the United States: III

Well, you should be wise enough to know that if you can pull the lever for a third option, I can too. And that’s the plan, if it’s Trump-Clinton. Hell, that’s the plan for Trump-Cruz, too. Cruz is no prize, right-wing projections onto him notwithstanding (we’re seeing the same projection phenomenon on the Right we saw with Obama supporters).

Why do you care so much that people attack Trump? He’d be a world class disaster as president - pointing that out in advance of an election is a good thing. Hell, it’s required.

Well, it is for those of us that aren’t lemmings.

Michael Savage. We listen to him at work.

I also found out that Trump causes cancer, diabetes, AIDS, homicidal rapists in South Sudan, and fat teenagers. Got to love the British, such a player on the world stage…

No, it’s not disingenuous- you just disagree with it. People earnestly think he’s that bad. And he is.

Up until this point he’s been on a leash and at a safe distance. Let him off the leash and his bite may do even more damage than Hillary’s.

Since the time to send up a protest vote is in the primaries or if there is going to be a rout, why are you guys wanting to vote 3rd party rather than for the lesser of 2 evils?

Trump is the worst candidate I have ever seen. My protest vote would be against him, but that protesting “lesser of two evils” vote would be for Clinton, and I have a rule that I will never knowingly vote for a corrupt candidate.

And Clinton is thoroughly corrupt - between the foundation sleaze and the home brew server, very corrupt.

I’m left with a third party or a write in.

A third party candidate that can win Texas actually has a significant chance of winning. It would take a well defined strategy in other states, but remember if nobody wins a majority of the electoral college votes, then the House of Representatives elects the president. Rick Perry could fit the bill. The GOP has had there chance to back Cruz and hasn’t done it, so I wouldn’t expect anything to change for him. If Perry can win just one state and then campaign for Trump to prevent Hillary from winning, the House would almost certainly pick him.

Oh my the sky is falling someone help. LOL…stop it PULEASE!

We don’t have to vote FOR anyone we just have to vote AGAINST someone that we know will be a far left wing progressive.

This is not rocket science.

Nioooooo, not here on T Nation the candidate must be perfect. If not perfect then oh well just stay home or write in Harry donbromowitz.

Some of the folks denouncing Trump for his nasty rhetoric would not have voted for TR if they were alive back in the day. He would pound the podium and scream out at his audience. My gosh what a nut he was…right? RIGHT?

One more point, while Trump is certainly no Ronald Reagan I do recall the left and the MSLM warning the nation a vote for Reagan would be a vote for nuclear war. He was a wild cowboy who could not be trusted with the most powerful job in the land.

As I said Trump is certainly no Ronald Reagan but in this new profane, rude and selfish society in which we live (you’d have to have lived through the 80’s to really appreciate the previous comment), Reagan could not get elected today.
