Trump is an actor and a showman, the temperament he displays is a calculated act to get media attention and rile the voters. Here’s the clip that really sold it to me: Oprah Winfrey Interviews Donald Trump in 1988 - YouTube. He’s so smart and articulate! I don’t think he’s gone insane since that was filmed, he’s just repackaged it in a way that appeals to an angry country and the “if it bleeds, it leads” press.
If that clip sold you then all I can say is that you are easily sold. Trump from 1988 is remarkably the same man as the Trump from 2016. He’s just a bit less animated but he is saying the same things. Instead of ranting about China being the boogey man as he currently does, in 1988 it was Japan. The guy has not changed one iota from what I can tell. He didn’t have specifics then and he doesn’t have them now.
You are not actually telling me that you think he is in the same league with Cruz, Rubio and Kasich are you?
The video sold me on his temperament, not that his policies are highly specific. Doesn’t he look smart, calm and articulate? I didn’t see ranting.
No Trump’s not in the same league as Crubasich. He’s leagues ahead of them! Those guys are do-nothing politicians.
Cruz is an ideologue whose unwillingness to compromise prevents him from getting anything done. None of his coworkers likes him and he has zero accomplishments as a Senator.
Rubio is a corrupt, childish buffoon who barely shows up to work. He’s the puppet of special interest donors and the RNC and I don’t trust him at all.
I don’t know anything about John Kasich. Maybe he’s great.
You, like Trump, are macro and international economics illiterate. America has assuredly benefited greatly from the liberal international economic order it created following the Second World War. Misguided American neo-mercantilism will reverse these quantifiable, positive-sum gains by dampening the pacific effects of international commerce and making the United States vulnerable to countervailing negative economic regimes. Basically, Trump wants to tear down one of the pillars of the American world order.
Only an idiot would support a candidate’s bid to become commander and diplomat in chief when that candidate is openly calling for war crimes to be committed and doesn’t have the faintest understanding of international affairs and national security policy. Trump isn’t even vaguely familiar with nuclear triad, for example. That’s the tip of the imbecilic iceberg.
Let’s not denigrate each other’s intellect and literacy. I’m actually pretty smart!
You’re right, I was too mean to Cruz. He’s been a good Senator and is by all accounts a pretty brilliant guy. I have a couple concerns with the Iowa voter fraud and the $1 million undeclared Goldman Sachs loan, but I could get behind him if he beats the Donald.
If the voters of the Republican Party decides that a single-payer healthcare system is the way to go, would you accept it?
This should be interesting, finnally someone actually trying to defend Trump on a policy standpoint…
Have you not noticed that every other candidate has border security and the loss of manufacturing as core components of their campaign?
The only difference with Trump is that he has articulated(if you can call it that) in a more “colorful” way.
Even further his means of addressing these issues are just flat out idiotic…
Take the border, his response is to build a massive wall…literally, and to make Mexico pay for it… the raw materials alone required for this endeavor make it rediculous, set aside the labor required. Instead we could be talking about using our already extremely effective surveillance methods being used all across the middle east in conjunction with other strategies such as E verify.
For trade, he can only propose tariffs. So instead of actually using policy that encourages domestic manufacturing he wants to start a trade war.
Trump doesn’t want to start a trade war. Trump wants to fight back in a trade war that China started years ago. China already has tariffs against our imports: http://stat.wto.org/TariffProfiles/CN_e.htm. But we have minimal-to-none against theirs: http://stat.wto.org/TariffProfiles/US_e.htm. Stack that on top of their rampant currency manipulation (Renminbi currency value - Wikipedia) and the US has just been rolling over and taking it while China exploits us. It’s about time we stopped hemorrhaging hundreds of billions of dollars and tens of millions of jobs.
You’re telling me walls don’t work? Tell that to the Hungarians: Hungarian border barrier - Wikipedia. We can’t build it? The Chinese built a wall 13 times longer 3,000 years ago. With modern technology we’ll build the wall in less than a year.
As she hopes for a position in a possible Trump administration.
Ha ha…you don’t know anything about a person who served for 18 years in Congress and assisted Ronald Reagan in balancing the budget. Who then worked as a commentator on a very popular news network who was then elected as Governor of Ohio and was immensely successfully. I see…but those politicians they’re all the same…Uh huh you do sound like a Trump supporter. Short on knowledge long on bluster.
Thanks for the invective. I’ll start taking Kasich seriously when he wins a state.
It’s getting even more interesting.
Cruz beat Trump pretty handily today in Kansas.
As we get into the “Winner-Take-All” States…it is VERY possible that he can overtake Trump in the delegate count.
I really think that Rubio may be dead. (Some would say right along with the “Republican Establishment”).
After this weekend; the Delegate distribution should tell us a lot.
So…if a candidate doesn’t win a state they are nobody?
As a Trump supporter you should at least know who you think Trump is better than. You didn’t even know who Kasich was.
