Yeah. His post-results interviews were downright sad too. Definitely didn’t look very presidential trying to pull a victory out of a clear and virtually unmitigated beat down.
He really needs to go home and quit wasting time and money.
Well, as a fat, uneducated yokel in upstate New York, I’m not so sure Trump loses the state in a general election. He won Massachusetts, which is basically a smaller version of New York. You have the big city holding the rest of the state hostage politically. With the amount of people that turned out in the Massachusetts primary, they couldn’t have all been country bumpkins from Berkshire county. There are a lot of fit, educated metropolitan democrats switching sides and voting for Trump.
He won the Massachusetts primary. He has an effective 0 percent chance of winning either state in the general election, at which time he will also be the national underdog by a considerable margin. As for who is holding whom hostage politically: in 2010, upstate generated around 28 percent of the state’s taxes and received 42 percent of state-funded expenditures. If it were up to me, you would already be gone.
Edit: We would also get Rockland, Orange, Putnam, and Westchester, which are the suburban counties and have a lot more in common with NYC than they do with Deposit.
Believe me SMH, my escape plan from this state is already laid out. A proportional dispersion of tax revenue doesn’t come close to rectifying the problems with New York. It’s not like I disapprove of the state because I want more tax money.
But to the Trump issue at hand. A few months ago he had a 0 percent chance of winning the Republican nomination and now its looking more possible, if not probable. He has managed to get all the votes and support that for years we were told Republicans need to “expand the party.” Basically he is getting historically Democrat votes. Trump has a better chance of winning NY than any other Republican candidate for that reason.
They are buffoonish dunces by definition, for reasons given and never remotely refuted (though they were certainly whined-about ineffectually). This is objective and not in doubt, which is why you will not even try to push back against it.
As for me, I enjoy denigrating idiots who are also virulent assholes trying to pull my country down the toilet. I am not part of some “strategy” to stop Trump and thus don’t care about what might backfire, not in the slightest; he will get annihilated in a general.
As the election results were being counted on Super Tuesday, it was 0530 in the morning at Kandahar Airfield and I was sitting outside the Green Bean Coffee shop, drinking coffee with my Afghan interpreter. Green Bean had mounted a TV outside on the wall and various branches of the military were watching the returns with avid interest. As it became clear that Trump was going to be the big winner, CNN immediately started asking the various talking heads, how is the “establishment” was going to stop Trump. My Afghan interpreter was very interested. He is different from most interpreters because he is from a warlord tribe, taught English as a way to obtain weapons buys from the Brits. He said:
Afghan: Why do Americans hate that man, he just won, winning is good , right?
Me: Do you know what the American slang statement “loose cannon” means?
Afghan: No.
Me: So I explained as best as I could.
Afghan: So, the people who choose this man are loose cannons too and the establishment is going to kill them to?
Me: No. just a use of American slang.
Afghan: When I was in (certain providence) Karazi’s men came through and told us how to vote, same as these people, pointing to the TV.
Me: good point.
I am not a Trump supporter, in fact, I don’t like any of them on either side. My disgust for politicians knows no bounds, but, there is something that is fundamentally insidious about this election cycle. First, Clinton, by all reports in the media was anointed as the next President, so, anyone running against her was a traitor to the Democratic party. The same with Bush, my God, its his turn and you damn well will vote for him, he is the only candidate that can beat Clinton. Hell, according to main stream media, it was over before it started.
Then along came Trump. The media went berserk with joy, my God, what material, what an opportunity to laugh and make sarcastic predictions he would crash and burn before August 2015. Now he is winning. Now all that dominates the news is how the " Republican establishment" has to destroy Trump, a party that has lived on the diet of failure.
It is disturbing, especially in my environment, that American votes are being discounted, simply because the “royalty” of the political elite don’t like who is winning. It seems that the “will of the people” to cast their votes is only good when you choose the candidate they want to win. American blood has soaked into the nations of this earth to guarantee that right, yet, you listen to any of the main stream media, or, even Fox, and what does the fourth estate want? the death of Trump.
So, we discount the American people who voted for Trump, who turned out in record numbers, because the establishment does not like him? The corruption of the Clinton machine is better? The Bush Dynasty is better? The incompetence of Boehner and Romney better? My current C&C better? No, just no.
As I stated, I am not a Trump supporter, I will not vote for him, however, he has shone a powerful spotlight on the corruption of our system, how , now matter how you vote, it must be for the candidate the “establishment” wants you to vote for. I am forced by oath to follow whoever is the C&C, but, my vote is mine, and, mine alone. I have fought and killed for that right, and so have many of those out there, who voted for their choice on Super Tuesday. It seems the “establishment” has different rules. Just my 2 cents.
In fact he is a buffoonish dunce (and worse), by definition, for reasons given and not even just a little bit refuted. When I said push-back, I meant on the substance, not this ^ limp nonsense. There has been and will continue to be no valid counter-argument.
Agreed, he would do better in NY than, say, Cruz, but his chances remain at effectively 0. The math just cannot add up for him (and would be against him nationally, too). I will eat an entire leather shoe and upload the video if Trump wins NY in the general election.
As for the upstate/downstate split, hey, I’m all for it man. I don’t actually bear upstate any ill will – lived in western NY for a little while, which was dreary but not without its charms – and as long as upstate is ok with the lost revenue, I say go for it.
No, not remotely comparable, as in not in the same universe. None of this has anything to do with partisan politics. Clinton, Cruz, Rubio, Bush, Romney, Obama, Ryan – they are all apples with various degrees of rot and blemish. Trump isn’t even an orange. He is an obese rat choking to death on a condom that was used during a clown-orgy behind a K-Mart. He cannot be compared to even the mealiest apple, and he certainly can’t be compared to someone who has forgotten more than he will ever know about contemporary world affairs.
Trump cannot be argued. He is uniquely stupid, laughably ignorant of nuclear policy (nuclear policy: the most urgent and grave concern of a CIC for half a century) and ludicrously unable to answer simple substantive questions in coherent English sentences, babbling instead about what is almost always nothing at all. To consider putting an ignoramus this fucking pathetically dumb in the situation room is to be a pitiable cretin by definition, and there is no question as to whether or not Clinton will savage him in, say, a foreign policy debate.
He is histrionic, like a female Victorian tween. His supporters are classically feminine – the bad kind of feminine – for so undervaluing cool-headed logic and classically masculine temperament.
He has clear and obvious fascist tendencies, as already demonstrated and not refuted (and including a repugnant, lying xenophobia that can appeal only to low-class trash).
There is no comparable pile of shit in national politics. There is nobody as stupid, nobody as incompetent, nobody as undignified. Nobody. And thus his supporters are to the last man a bunch of stupid, clownish assholes in a way that no other major candidate’s supporters have achieved in modern American history.
