The Next President of the United States: III

And this is where Trump may have legal footing for his wall. We can argue semantics about a fence versus a wall, but look at what was written with Obamacare and how different what we actually got is.

Great post MaximusB!

Isn’t it interesting how property rights and stake over land becomes vitally important when it comes to building a wall but can easily be ignored when it comes to illegals and their rights to stay on land they’re not legally living on.

Not popular but what about Eminent domain?

Big business and the Chamber of Commerce want their cheap labor all day every day, and they hide behind the shield of diversity to protect it. They scream racism to silence the opposition, as is all political correctness. Our mayor recently thanked criminals for serving their time in jail (not joking), and people why wonder Trump is resonating with voters.

I think you’ve sorta missed the point of what many of us have been arguing here. No one to my knowledge has argued illegal aliens have a right to be here or live here simply because they made it across the border. Many of us do not want the issue of illegals in this country being used as a catalyst for a bigger, more expensive, and more intrusive government in general.

Solving the illegal immigrant problem shouldn’t result in less liberty for the rest of us.

It should be used sparingly for limited and necessary purposes. Certainly not for a casino parking lot.

Pretty sure someone in this thread referred to migrants as “answering the call of capitalists”

See here is where you lost me.

People wail and moan about HOW TEH HELLZ CAN ANYBODY LIKE TRUMP?!?!?!

The answer is simple, for the person who had their identity stolen by an illegal immigrant…or a person who lost their job as a coal miner or oil rig worker here is how it works…

Trump tells them he will stop the immigrant problem, BAM! he gets their vote. Trump tells them he will not pressure the government to put the coal mines out of business (thanks Hillary!) BAM! he gets their vote.

People on this thread would demean these people as stupid, for voting for somebody who promises to do something that is important TO THAT PARTICULAR PERSON…instead of business as usual in D.C.

It is not hard to understand the popularity, if you look at it from an everyman’s point of view.

Searching this thread doesn’t have “capitalists” anywhere other than your post.

Okay… Even if that was said, not saying it wasn’t, that doesn’t change what I wrote… Answering the call of capitalism (whatever that even means) and having a right to be here are different things.

@UtahLama

I don’t follow? I mean, I’m completely lost… People haven’t argued illegals have a right to be here as far as I can tell. I have not argued this.

Trump makes promises, like every politician, and a significant number of people have bought it hook, line, and sinker. I don’t dispute that. Never have.

You should discuss that with the people that have made those comments. I have not. I don’t think Trump supporters are generally stupid. I think their naive about what Trump will actually do once in office and I think they’re giving him a free pass on a lot of things he’s said and done.

Search the other ones it’s there I remember it

The situations where I believe they are stupid is where Trump has promised them something and they believe him even though he 1. Has a history of lying (and fraud) 2. Never said or fought for it before 3. Usually said the opposite in the past 4. The proposal does not solve the problem the person is facing.

Easy example, and related to this thread, is immigration. Trump has never fought for immigration reform. He criticized Romney for being to harsh on immigrants. His solution of deportation and building a wall is not realistic (he knows this and admitted as much to the NYT board). The wall will not solve the problem. Therefore, voting for him based on that record sounds very stupid to me.

No. If you want to claim somebody said it, prove it. I’m not your research assistant.

I’m pretty sure it was sloth. Don’t care if you don’t believe me

GASP! You mean…you mean…a politician is telling the voters something they want to hear just to get elected?

Oh my…I never heard of that happening before.

Pretty sure I posted an outline above that people who don’t support Trump found as a reasonable way of deporting illegals.

I’m not sure how a wall wouldn’t fix invaders from coming once the logistics of building it are hammered out

We should remind Obama that walls don’t keep out undesirables then he could take down the walls that surround the White House. Oh wait…didn’t they say they were going to increase them this summer?

You did. Trump has not mentioned anything along those lines. We were talking about Trump and why his voters are stupid.

A wall is a simple way of looking at the problem. It doesn’t handle the issues the currently funded fence is having. It doesn’t tackle visa overstays. It doesn’t handle current illegals here (or are you going to bring up the Nazi’s methods again?). A wall does not solve the issue more than what the current fence does. Do you think replacing the fence with a wall is the trick we’ve been missing?

Again, what are we supposed to believe with Trump? Here I’m assuming you mean he won’t do what he says. So what will he do? Will he act as he said in 2012 or 2016? Do you care? Are you saying that people who vote for him based on what he is saying are stupid for believing him?

Politicians say things to get elected, but they usually don’t do it with the central thesis of their platform.
