I felt sorry for the boy because that’s the reason why people say deadlifts are bad for your back. I was going to offer to demonstrate but decided to mind my own business.
So now this guy is going to be a cripple for life because of you minding your own business.
Unbelievable.

I guess. I missed my opportunity to prevent a whole lot of sadness. I’m so selfish. Actually, I just don’t care enough.

How thoughtless and selfish can one be?
I mean, I’m a bitch, but even I helped a guy out who was doing rounded-back deadlifts the last time I was squatting at my gym. I got this kind of fuzzy feeling inside… I must have been getting sick
As an aside, I went to mine yesterday but people must have all gone on Monday and had DOMS yesterday cuz the gym was pretty empty (including the cardio machines).
PS. That is the hottest running skirt ever PMPM. Next time you see her can you ask her where she got it and pick one up for me? Or, you can just tackle her to the ground and rip it off her… errr that sounded really bad… but at least the guys at the gym should enjoy the show…

Was she the prettiest princess at the gym today?
No way, dude, you know that was me.
I guess I just don’t understand the skirt. She wasn’t huge or tubby or anything, she’s just a cardio bunny kind of figure. She had nothing to hide, but I guess she felt the need to hide it anyway…in bright pink.

I for one actually LIKE when I find 45lbs plates already on the machine. That’s less work I have to do. However, if I now have to strip EVERYTHING off because you slipped a fucking 10lbs on first, nothing pisses me off more.

ROFL! I’m not sure what’s funnier though… the moron who did that or picturing you steaming the whole time unloading and loading the bar.
DEFINITELY choice B.
I hate how every time I go into the gym this month, the 10 lb plates will be on the 25 lb pegs, layered between a 2.5 and 35, etc. The pegs are labeled. Is it so hard to match the number on the plate to the number on the peg?
Today, I saw a football player doing a upright row with 55lbs. Then I realized he was trying to do Cleans. I then showed him how to use his hips, how to squat under the bar and catch it. Some kid behind me is watching us intently, and I’m thinking “Awesome, I’m teaching two people at once” Then the kid behind me proceeds to inform me that cleans are bad for your wrists and back…
I then decided to change my workout for the day, and do only cleans, ya know, just to hurt my wrists alittle more. Oh and the video above? That happened today on a bench, some kid got trapped, but instead of coming to the rescue, I ended up having to bent over row the weight into the rack. I look at it as alittle bit of prefatigue for my back.
Try to be nice to the n00bs guys, we were all one of them once, and some of us still are one (sortof me). Even if they are dolts, stupid, anoyying, pompous, and all that good stuff, doesn’t everyone want a skinny-er america?
At about 9h30 last night, our gym finally had cleared out some and it looked like a hurricane hit us. Plates and dumbbells everywhere, it was a great workout just cleaning up the place. As usual, not a plate on the squat rack or even a bar LOL, it get used mainly for pull-ups.
Although it is horrible to train in these conditions, its funny as hell to work through them. Most memorable from last night goes to the girl using a abductor machine while playing games on her phone. Come to think of it, she was probably going to benefit more from the hand eye coordination of video gaming anyways.
I actually went to a gym the other day (thanks Nate for picking me up and using your company diesel) that turned out to be truly excellent.
Not so much the equipment (though it was fine) but the philosophy.
It is 24 hours, entry by electronic tag (unfortunately my ‘government sponsored’ electronic curfew tag wouldn’t activate the door), which is very rare in the UK.
But one of the things that made it appeal to me was the fact that if you get caught curling in the squat rack, you get thrown out of the gym. Excellent!
Also, if there are plates left on equipment, the owners review the security tapes and ban the member who is untidy. Also excellent!
OK, carry on.

Assuming your location is accurate and you’re in Wales, where is that gym? I’m considering moving out that way somewhere and I need a decent place to train at

I reorganize the plates between sets.
I thought I was the only OCD person who did that.
I had 2 newbies at the gym the other morning that cracked me up and pissed me off. They were all over the place using every machine they saw. Well, first exercise of the day is Hack Squats.
The kid starts loading the up the plates, and has like 3 on each side. Starts doing his reps…without taking the lock off. It apparently isn’t heavy enough so he starts loading more and more plates till he has at least 6 or 7 on each side. He was hitting the lock so hard I could hear the metal clanking with my headphones on and being on the other side of the gym. I just laughed, as I’m sure he thought he was just the shit that he could do so much weight when he wasn’t even doing half the range of motion that is intended. He was just sliding up and down at the top.
Then of course they left all the plates on it, which just pissed me off.
Then they continued on with their 95 lb. bench pressing followed by machine curls.

There’s me and another guy who do that in my gym. It’s normally monday morning after the weekend idiots that leave plates all over the place, we both tidy up between sets.
OK - I’ve enjoyed the laughs here too, but as a certified noob (with my brother), I have to speak up for some of us noobs.
We’ve been working out for 3 months 3x’s a week consistently. We started out on the machines for the first month and a half and have transitioned into free weights for most of our workouts now. (going slow, getting technique right first - Some of the hardcore guys have been great offering tips and advice - so thanks.)
Just in being regular at the gym, I’ve even started noticing “noob behavior” like you all are mentioning and I understand why you are all so frustrated with us in general.
But take heart, you are an encouragement and an inspiration to some us. We aren’t all pompous posers - even if we are noobs.

Everyone was a noob once. The important thing is sticking with it long enough to no longer be one.
For these reasons, I go to the gym at 4am. However, I haven’t escaped the noob insanity. I was doing incline DB presses with light weight about 50lbs I think…(trying to warm up the old joints). In walks these two young kids 16-18 years old, and they are hovering right over me talking about what lifts they’ve read or heard about.
I don’t need anyone bumping into me while I’m DB pressing, So I hollered “watch out!” and threw the weights in their direction as I do when I am thru pressing max weight. I feel bad but they could’ve seriously hurt me if they bumped my with max weight…
