I’ve heard they ditched the whole “mythology” thing that consumed the last few seasons, and are back to the “monster of the week” thing.
I hope it’s true. I want to see Mulder and Scully kick some scary monster ass while making wise cracks.[/quote]
I also have read that and it makes sense anyway. I don’t know how they could do a movie at this point any other way actually. Some of the “monster of the week” episodes were great even though the thrust of the show was the universally sweeping conspiracy.
I’ll probably go see it in the theater by myself. The last time I went to the movies was for Toy Story 2 when my daughter was little… er.

No no no definitely take your daughter. Kids need to learn that monsters exist. I watched that show when I was a little kid and I don’t have horrible night terrors to this very day even though I’m supposed to be a grown man…
The “monster of the week”-style episodes were the best. Skully was solving cases way harder than the ones Gil Grissom does and all she had was two halfass microscopes and a magnifying glass.
I loved X-Files, but when I heard about this movie it just didn’t excite me that much…I guess it’s just been too long since the show has been on the air.

She doesn’t do too well with that kinda stuff. I think it would flip her out. She couldn’t watch the series.

The show was the best, as were Anderson and Duchovney.
Now, you should apologize for that.

I’ll admit I never really got the X-Files show, but I really enjoyed the first movie. I just can’t get over how Duchovney is supposed to be a FBI agent yet seems to be stoned all the time and is like one of those crazy conspiracy theorists that thinks 9/11 was caused by aliens(the kind from outer space).
I actually thought Millennium with Lance Hendrickson was better than the X-Files.

Note to self:
Never ask this guy for his opinion on ANYTHING related to science fiction.

Well, that’s pretty much what his character is. Looks like David did a good job.

He did admit he never really got it. I thought everybody in the X-Files was very well cast and acted their parts to a T. Conspiracy is agent Mulder’s middle name and maybe the best single word to sum up the series, spanning from the ancient past all the way to the present.
Just think how sweepingly ambitious that show was. It encompassed in some way, directly or indirectly, practically every single significant event in human history.
For the record I believe in absolutely nothing that the show put forward, but loved it anyway.
The X-Files is probably my favorite TV show of all time. I remember being completely glued to the television while watching the episode about the inbred murderers.

The last movie was disappointing though.

Yeah, with Johnny Mathis singing “Wonderful Wonderful”. How creepy was that?

I was probably only about 13 when I saw that episode, so my memory of it is a bit blury. I will probably get the box set at some stage so that I can watch all of my favorite episodes again.
