I just want to share these couple of posts from Tim Patterson, as I find them thoughtful, motivating, and just super cool.
I believe Surge has basically everything Plazma has and a few extras? Plus it’s cheaper. I don’t know if long term Surge is replacing Plazma or not. I’ll probably be using Surge in the future for those reasons.
Another quick update:
I’ve stuck with CT’s Layers Program because I decided that I wanted to try one scoop of Surge Workout Fuel before and one during.
The biggest thing other than an increased pump during the session, which I expected, has been that the pump has lasted longer. I’ve noticed that I’ve been much more vascular throughout the evening after my afternoon session.
I’ll likely weigh in Thursday morning.
From a novel standpoint it would seem hydrolyzed casein has a complete amino acid profile - compared to just leucine. To continue rambling, whey protein has a higher leucine percentage than casein.
In my layman theory, it would be more cost effective to include just leucine - as a proven anabolic amino acid - than all the rest featured in the rather expensive hydrolyzed casein. Which explains the more attractive price of Surge than Plazma.
Question still remains - Considering effect and/or bioavailability: Is hydrolyzed caseine better than leucine only? Hydrolyzed caseine do seem to have a significant amount of studies backing it up. Not sure about leucine though.
Ok, this became a rather nerdy rambling. I just leave it there for now.
Weighed in yesterday at a surprising 221.
I say surprising for two reasons: 1) pants are feeling a little looser and 2) my diet was probably, at best, 80% well-behaved over that time.
Inside the mind time: I don’t typically take measurements. I rely heavily on the mirror and how my clothes feel. I have a tendency, especially in the past, of going too far into the obsessive category. I know what my triggers are, and I do my best to maintain balance with regard to making progress and being in a healthy mindset. Hope you all can respect that (and the lack of hard data).
Love,
How go the workouts? I’ve always noticed a difference when using the old formula surge… I’m definitely liking the new one a couple weeks in
Going really well! I’m with you. I’m definitely enjoying the new formula. I’m honestly surprised that my workouts are still feeling better than they did with Plazma. I was leaving room for the excitement of trying something new, but the workouts are still going strong.
I mentioned it earlier, but the convenience of having one workout product for lifting, biking, and hockey (still to come) is huge. Plus, it’s already flavored. It hit me today how much I enjoyed the simplicity of just tossing in a scoop and shaking.
1000%. And all my stuff isn’t stained
Oh, man. For real.
I do appreciate that the new liquid flavors don’t have any added color, though.
Flavor - Here is another argument in favour of Surge, compared to Plazma. Why? Well, hydrolyzed casein IS bitter tasting. Personally, I don’t know whether leucine tastes good or bad - but I expect there is a difference to the better.
Leucine is not on the top of the epicurean chart for good taste.
Yeah, I’d agree that leucine is on the better side of that scale.
But to Biotest’s credit, it’s rather remarkable how well the liquid flavors work to hide the bitterness in the Plazma and Mag-10 formulas. Like, they just taste really good.
Funny story, true story. I was using Plazma for a hockey game once, but had forgotten the flavoring.
That particular water bottle was on the bench at the time when I heard a loud, “WTF is this?!” Let’s just say that was the last time anyone ever drank from one of my bottles.
(For the record, I finished it like a champ.)
Unflavored Plazma isn’t tasty, but it isn’t that bad either. I too forgot the flavoring once. It wasn’t that bad going down.
I remember a time when ornithine was thought to be a growth hormone releaser. Now powdered ornithine in water is a real challenge. A bitter metallic taste.
I have quite a few berry flavoring bottles left over from Plazma. Would adding a drop or two to Surge be okay?
I can’t imagine it would cause any harm.
Berry lemonade?
It would probably taste really good!
Go for it.
Wow, so this is a stand-alone product then? No need to add protein to the mix?
Yup! There’s no need to add anything.
Niiiice. So much more convenient.
