Mistake in my last posting: Ranger school is nine plus weeks in length. The average weight loss amoung students is 30 pounds. The pass rate is around 20%. Check out their website.
Best of Luck.

What is the point of it? Just that the men need to lose weight quickly?[/quote]

nah, just to stress people out…in Ranger school, you’re pretty much humping for 60 days straight, with 1-4 hours of sleep a night (depending on you duty postion) with little food. it’s just the added stress to weed people out…

Combat medic said it right…it’s really hard to compare the all sinc some of the stress is very different resons, and i don’t know many pople that have done all the sleections!

Definately SBS

What do the Australians have in this regard? Just curious.

I don’t know if this makes them the toughest, but the French Foreign Legion has a casualty rate of 1 in 10. Due to the fact that they are from all around the world and not french citizen the French government doesn’t worry about casualties and therefore sends them into the most hostile areas of the world. Their training consists of urban, desert on jungle warfare.

I thought the French Foreign LEgion was disbanded many years ago? No?

No they’re still around. They recently been in Rwanda, Somalia, etc. They’re mostly made up of drifters and crims on the run. No women either. There are rumours that some have been killed because they wanted to leave before a due date. I don’t know how true that is though. When you join you change your name, identity so no one can track you down. It’s pretty full on.
