America embraced spelling reform. Britain did not.

Shit Hijack.
Centre is spelt correctly, just because people in the US have bastardised the English language to make it simpler and easier to understand, does not make it correct, I think you need to go to Oxford in England and buy an Oxford English dictionary if you want the definitive answer on the correct spelling of the word centre, or colour for that matter ![]()
Now back to the original subject matter of this post…
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Now, OP, have you ever spelled “colour” correctly? Or “centre” or “realise”?

Why don’t we all just go back to the original Latin or Saxon while were reviving decrepit linguistic practices.

Becuase English is English, yes the majority of English words are derived from French, latin, Greek etc… but you cannot speak bastardised English and claim it to be English, if the English people in England wish to change the spelling of an English word they will, but Americans cannot change the English language and claim it to be correct, it is not your language, you can call it American-English if you like, but do not speak your bastardised English to an Englishman and claim to be correct, when the English language as it is recongnised today (with some changes and additions along the way by English people in Oxford) has exsisted longer than America has.

Our culture is much like our arms industry was in World War II; we may not have produced the finest equipment of the era in all cases, but we could produce a shit load of it. We will bury you.

Spelt (Triticum spelta) is a hexaploid species of wheat. Spelt was an important staple in parts of Europe from the Bronze Age to medieval times; it now survives as a relict crop in Central Europe and has found a new market as a health food. Spelt is sometimes considered a subspecies of the closely related species common wheat (T. aestivum), in which case its botanical name is considered to be Triticum aestivum subsp. spelta

As an aside, do you honestly believe that if the US spoke Spanish, the rest of the world would be teaching English in their schools?
Contrary to most Americans I don’t believe the US has won any war single handedly (well maybe Granada), but I believe Great Britain’s time as a world player is largely past for now.
