The Last Airbender

Gonna need a mod to delete this post please it could blow my cover…

For those who saw it in 2D: did you notice that about half the fights scenes looked like they were meant to be in 3D, so that it just looked blurry as hell without glasses?

Don’t get your panties in a twist.

Editing out the rest of that post to only focus on the one thing I wanted to address in NO WAY changes what you had said. I was merely wondering why an Asian actor playing an Inuit character would make the movie better. Are Asian actors inherently better than white actors? Is authenticity only in danger when white actors are cast to play other races’ roles? I’m pretty sure Zuko wasn’t East Indian in the cartoon, but that’s ok, at least he wasn’t white in the movie.

And if it’s a matter of acting ability, why specify that it should have been an Asian playing her?

Have you even seen the movie? Even the white guy from spill.com agrees with me.

I do believe I already made this as clear as possible…they stuck a bunch of people who look OUT OF PLACE IN A FUCKING IGLOO in an igloo with REAL Eskimos and tried to pass it off like a real tribal village.

I mean, have you SEEN a tribal village before?

They didn’t just pick “white people”. They picked the whitest old woman short of Mrs Doubtfire to play Katara’s grandmother in this movie…IN A FUCKING IGLOO.

Does this shit really need to be more clear for you to get it?[/quote]

I have made it a mandatory requirement to see the spill review before seeing a movie now. If they dont do one then I wait for rental. I started watching the series after seeing the first trailer for this movie. Now there is no way in hell I am going to give any money to this movie.

x2

Anybody else also notice that in the scene with the earth benders, about 6 of them danced round bending together, and then only threw one rock? and a small one at that?

A funny article bashing the movie: Cracked.com - America's Only Humor Site | Cracked.com

I… I have so many complaints about this movie but I am gonna start with the obvious fuck ups:

Aang, Kitara, Colonel Jhao, did HORRIBLE acting jobs, just hackneyed and forced deliveries.
The spirit of the series was not there, I didn’t feel the almost Indiana Jones esque sense of adventure or whimsy.
With the minor exception of Zuko there was no character development.
The Kyoshi warriors are noticeably absent.
The spirit world looked ridiculous. Where the fuck was Avatar Roku? And the face stealing spirit?
The goodbuy between Iroh and Zuko (when he was sneaking into the Northern water tribe’s kingdom to get Aang) was very shallow. In the series you really saw how much he cared for Zuko and he actually said I consider you my son. None of that was there.
You really didn’t get a sense of how the water benders strength increased during the full moon.
The battle between Kitara and Aangs water bending teacher is noticeably absent.
Aang fucking killed (implied) the fire benders at the end of the invasion. He went ape shit and wiped them out. In this he does some simple kung fu and makes a big puddle and everyone leaves.
Sokka had weird neck stubble,
Appa looked creepy
Where the fuck was kink Bumi?
Kitara And Sokka stuck out like a soar thumb in that mostly Inuit tribe.
I would Pedo Bear Princess Yuwei
Fire Lord Ozai should not be seen until the third movie.

I would have rather they did a feature length animated movie to wrap up the story (Finding Zuko’s mom) then put out this rubbish that does this wonderful piece of art no justice. The director is in over his head there is no way he can encapsulate the climactic and intense battles coming up in this series.

King Bumi should not show up till 2nd movie (not that there will or should be one).

what shamalaney did to this story with his movie…

Is the series really as good as everyone is making it out to be?

I saw the movie, it sucked big balls.

This is what Ebert suggested, and was one of his main complaints.

I still haven’t seen the film…I’m waiting until it hits the cheap seats and it’s $.70 Monday, lol. I loved the series so much - I’m almost afraid to watch the movie.

The series takes a little bit to get into, but its very rewarding. Go for it.

So you read a 10 page thread where everyone is in agreement and simply thought we were all crazy?

Don’t be afraid to watch it. It is so NOT Airbender that you end up watching it like in that episode where the characters watch a play about their exploits put on by other actors who can’t act…this is that play.

I just saw the movie last night, I remember the show being on Nickelodeon thats why I thought I would ask. Didn’t bother reading all 10 pages.

I can only imagine if I thought the movie sucked how bad people who watched the show must think it sucked.

Iroh FTW

New Avatar series coming.

WHY DON’T THEY TELL US WHAT HAPPENED TO ZUKO’S MOM!

A new female Avatar 700 years from Ang. Hmmmm OK should be worth a shot?

Oh and Zucko’s MOM will make a great one shot nickelodean Movie.

Edit- ok I think I read she has to learn air bending from Ang’s son. How old is this guy?
