Hi,
I was looking for some advice if possible… I’ve recently developed pain in the posterior or my right knee, almost dead centre. It happened getting out of a car of all things, stepped out to my right and felt a distinct “pop”.
Anyways… ever since Ive had pain ranging from a dull tightness to sharp pain that takes the strength out of my knee. I am on my feet all day as a sales assistant, and my knee gets tired towards the end of the day, when i sit with my knee flexed for any length of time it gets very tight so I try to keep it straight out but that becomes uncomfartable!
Training wise, I can deadlift no problem, and single and 2 leg squats are also ok at body weight (not tried loaded yet). I have tried my doc but he just says the usual R.I.C.E. stock answer, I regularly foam roll and keep on top of my mobility/ stability stuff, have good range of motion in my hips and ankles( I think!!). I recently began running again after about 9 months off.
This is really starting to get to me because it seems to be getting worse rather than better, any help that can be offered would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks from the new guy!!
I lifted heavy for two years and suddenly stopped 18 months ago in favor of long distance trail running.
About 4 months in I experienced severe pain on the outside of my right knee. Thinking it was ITBS I stopped running and stretched/iced for two weeks. It worked, went away and I ran again hard for 8 months.
6 Weeks ago it came back with a vengeance. RICE and stretching didn’t work so I had my running evaluated and discovered that I pronate. I purchased special shoes, now I don’t pronate but the pain is still there.
ART, Deep Tissue Massage and Chiro didn’t help either. The Orthopedist thinks I sprained my lcl but from what I understand its hard to do that without completely blowing your knee (I didn’t). XRay cleared me of bone problems but I have not had an ultrasound or MRI to evaluate the tissues (its expensive).
Any tips? Its hurts most when I run but also when I walk or lift anything.
Hi Mike, I was helping my mom with some gardening work, I did shoveling and a squat/rowing motion
trying to haul up a heavy garbage bin of dirt up a hill, I have pain in the back of the knee at the calf hamstring tie in, it seems largely ligament in nature, it hurts when i walk, so I would think primarily extension based pain. I am able to do single leg squats up until the lockout at
which point i start getting some pain. As far as posture I have asymmetrical tightness of the hips, externally rotated feet. I hope that I just need to ice it and I will be 100%, I don’t
want to end up doing partial motion in exercises like i do with my ac joint problems. I have assess and correct at my disposal for postural problems, if that makes any difference. Thanks
for any input you have for me:)
