Kimba, the deload should be boring and tedious. One of the things it does is keep you hungry for the real work. And nice job on the dips.

and here the first thing i think of is 4 ways to reference bukkake. [/quote]
HAHAHA! love it!
Yup, good work on the deload - you’ll be kicking and screaming to lift heavy again. More PRs for you sista!
hee heee, are you the cat’s staff? soo true, kimba.
damn i wish i knew how to imbed a youtube video instead of just posting the link. check out Simon’s cat, if you haven’t already seen these…
i’m heading into deload week too, and i think i’m looking forward to it. i hope you enjoy yours. yep, like you said, you are training smarter, not harder!

Thanks Jack. Its working, then.

M, I’m already kicking and screaming. My deload for tomorrow (or Monday if I’m too tired after skiing) is so light that I’ve got enough weights here at home to do it!
T, thanks for the video! I hope you have a better deload attitude than I do.

Yes m’am. Shaking my boot-ay before and after.
Yesterday’s training: 1 hour of cross-country ski skating.
Today’s training: skiing down icy steeps as fast and with as few turns as humanly possible. Speed is definitely my thang-thang. I noticed that my core strength, quad and butt strength are far improved from last ski season. My tuck is torso-to-quads and limitless. Fun times!
Tomorrow I’m planning to do my bench and squat deload day with the puny (but apparently sufficient) weights and oly bar that I have at home. My gym on a Monday nite during resolution-er season is not worth contemplating.
Now I’d like video of that! Whew! I can just picture you doing those icy steeps, Kimba, and how exciting feeling and seeing your hard training come to fruition in your dangerous diversions! How excellent!
Ooooo, so jealous of the skiing!!
I’m with Freckle, I bet the training is amazingly helpful for the skiing. Pretty awesome, Kimba.
Given your love of things sporty you should really give this a try when it comes to your area.
I’m doing it in May, I just need to figure out how to get back in running condition without screwing up my hammies for DLing.

There is nothing that laser-beam-like focuses one’s attention nor drives thoughts of problems and tribulations from one’s mind as the immediate threat of slamming into a tree from a moment of inattention. That and the adrenaline-high is why I like it!

In reality, I weight-train for the sake of training. But when there is cross-over benefit to the other sports I enjoy, its like winning the lottery twice.

ha ha. This is where the girly side of me pops out. I’m not-so-much an “outdoorsy” sort of chick. My idea of camping is the Sheraton. I don’t like hiking because of the bugs. Murky swampy muddy dirty things – I’ll watch you and take funny video!
For the lack of oly bar clips…
I couldn’t make myself train today.
Fighting off a cold virus, worked late, couldn’t see balancing an oly bar with slide-y weights and no clips on my shoulders after clean and pressing it there.
Oh well. Couch sitting = the ultimate deload.
Time to buy clips.

two words: duct tape
I’ve done that type of deload myself, it’s all good
If you’re fighting a virus then the couch (or sofa as we say in Blighty) is the best option. Give your body a break.
Get well soon!
You will get more out of your couch deload if you combine it with a Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream recovery meal.
take it easy there Kimba and recover quickly.
oh dear…that warrior race in Nor Cal is about 20 miles from me…this is enticing.
i’ve never been a “runner” but i like dirt and mud and insects. i grew up camping where you had to four-wheel in to remote high altitude creeks and such.
i’m a true mountain girl at heart who is stuck living in the city…warrior race…now that would be bad-ass!
Dog – duct tape is genius!
Cal and MIM – I’m still on the sofa, but (knock on wood) I’m hoping for success in the virus-fight. We’ll see tomorrow AM, when I’m next scheduled to train.
Joe – I went with grilled chicken quesadilla recovery meal. Also effective.
T – You can have all my earthly allotment of dirt and muds and insects. My generosity knows no bounds. ![]()
Well, I got up off the sofa/couch and trained this morning. Luckily (so far) I haven’t busted out with the full-blown virus that my immune system is fighting off. This is a low-level kind of thing, where I feel quite tired and “off” with a bit of a sniffle. Regardless: to the gym!
“Off the 5/3/1 Reservation Day”
Back squats to three risers plus a step
Bar 1 x 10 warmup
85# 1 x 10
100# 1 x 5
110# 1 x 5 <–some knee cave
115# 1 x 3 <–lots of knee cave, got really tired during this set
85# 1 x 15
Felt weak today on lower body. Blaming the virus. I tried to work on really squeezing the bar hard, and this helped me focus and get more reps on my weak-sauce day.
Bench Press
80# 2 x 4, 1 x 5 <–Rep PR +1
I was really happy with this, and fought like hell for that 5th rep!
Dips
BW 1 x 20
Eh. Endurance wasn’t my strong point today.
Walking Lunges
20s for 70 steps
Again, eh. I usually do this with 25s, but just wasn’t feeling it.
Lots of ab work
I was happy to be training at all, and a rep PR on bench was the chocolate buttercream frosting.
Nice progress on the bench, Kimba. How’s your form? And was that 70 consecutive walking lunges? That’s nice!
You’re doing well considering you’re under the weather. I’d have just taken the day off. (That’s probably why I weigh 50% more than you do, though).
