Well, in a way it was filmed then, movies like Death Wish, for example, probably captured the griminess and degenerate atmosphere pretty accurately.

As well as documentaries from the 70s to 90s that showed just how bad some parts of NYC were.

I know how that goes! 
I wasn’t raised this way. I let men handle their own shit against another man unless it gets out of hand.
But, if you are threatening / harming women or children, I can’t sit idle.
