The Hollywood Fantasy

This is kind of an off topic post for a weight training site, but given the title of this forum link, I’m going to post any ways and see what you all have to say.

I have become aware of a pattern in all the relationships I have been in with women-

What they want: to be crazy in love, for the man to feel the way they feel, for ever and ever and ever (this is the hollywood fantasy).

What I subscribe to: I like this quote- “In relationships, I would like to be flowers for your table, not air for you lungs”. In other words, the girl is the icing on the cake of my own happiness, success and identity. I love her, I miss her when she’s gone, but I could live without her, be happy without her.

I know I can’t stereotype all women as the same, but this has been what my experiences have shown me thus far.
I know other guys feel the same way, but maybe some don’t (?) If you do, how do you deal with this? Are you honest with your girlfriend about how you feel, or do you avoid confrontation through semantics and carefully worded explanations?

If you don’t feel this way, if you are crazy in love with your girl, what’s your secret?

Ladies, what do you think?

I think you need to try dating women, not girls.

Amen. That needs to be a strong words quote.

I think you answered your question rather well yourself. And I like the quote, although I’d rather consider myself a cactus.
