The Grind...

The weigh in for my virtual meet is tomorrow. I haven’t had a single non-veggie carb since yesterday for breakfast, and that was a cup of oatmeal. Actually I haven’t had any non-veggie, non-oatmeal carbs since Sunday. And I tripled my water intake for the last five days.

All food and water stopped at 7pm tonight, tomorrow I’m doing some early morning cardio, then a-steppin’ on the scale at 7am. Hopefully all this nonsense will drop a bunch of water weight. It’s actually a much less stressful process then peaking for my physique challenge last summer (that’s a special private-hell-on-Earth that I’ll describe to you all some day). I then have a glorious 24 hour rehydration and carb-up window before the lifts start on Saturday.

Man, I sure hope I don’t suck. I don’t mind being beat, I just don’t want to embarass myself.

A final question: I have two days to records my best at MP, bench, deads, and squats. Any thoughts as to the order?

P.S. My son insists I post my Facebook status here: “How many boards would the Mongols hoard if the Mongol Horde got bored?”

Well, the order in a PL meet is squat, bench, DL if that’s any help. If there’s curling, that goes first.

And good luck!

Thermogenics?

I would squat, bench, pull, mp. And I would just get it all done in one day, in fact I would even try to get it done, with your strength level, in about 3 hours. That way you won’t burn out and tighten up.

Ya know Canada_K, you really need to find a way to come out of your shell. Maybe join a book club or something just to get you out of the house.

Nice vid dude. Cute bunch o’ kids.[/quote]

x2 Great vid.

For your amusement

Well I’m done all my maxes. All in all, a very cool experience. There’s a lot floating around in my head right now… It’ll take me some time to get it all out in coherent fashion. Details will follow, but the short version is: lifetime PRs for MP, DL and SQ. But, strangely, 5 lb under my PR for BP. Perhaps not too strange considering the limiting factor is probably my nerve injury, which may never heal completely.

Feeling pretty AWESOME at the moment. Vids to follow…

Sounds like an outstanding day! Congrats on the lifetime PRs and only 5#s off on bench while rehabbing a nerve injury sound like a lot of success to me!

For now some numbers. Full details later. Many things going on this weekend.

…Oct…Feb
BP…240…245
MP…140…160
DL…295…365
SQ…285…320
bw…175…183

Wilks…304…329

For a total improvement of 25 Wilks points.

Somehow, you’d think the Wilks score should be more impressive considering I added 70 pounds to my deadlift. Sigh. Ah well. I’m having some celebratory beverages… I’m donwright loopy. I’ll construct my thoughts and thanks… and of course the video, including a really SPECIAL surprise Canada_K style… over the next couple days.

I owe thanks to so many of you, this is going to take me awhile.

Those are some huge gains! I’m impressed.

I can see why you’re loopy over them.

congrats on the PRs.

Damned Disciplined!

Love the status.

x2. Pretty good.

Great gains for a 4/5 monthe period.

Veryt good numbers for 183. Jsut as good or better than mine at 230.

Great increases in a short time, but did you win?

Your increase in bodyweight would have made the Wilks score lower than you expected.

Bloody lean muscle gain!!!

Quick reply to all of you because I’m crazy busy and unable to be as present here as I would like:

  • Thanks for the kudos. Not sure if I really deserve it because I think that NOW I’m at a level of strength I really should have been at all along. I just completed a journey that took me to the starting line.

  • Don’t know if I won yet. Different family commitments forced us to deliver results a week apart.

  • I gave up 10 points on my Wilks because of weight gain, but I’ve been training to gain. I’m actually closer to 190 lbs right now. I shed a bunch of water weight for the weigh in.

  • I’m half-done the video. Should give y’all a couple laughs, so stay tuned. No purple speedo, I promise.

  • Reading your logs and the monster poundages y’all throw around was a big motivator for me. Thanks for that.

Part of the requirements for my wirtual meet was video evidence of the lifts. Of course, I believe that anything worth doing is worth overdoing.

Here it is.

I may not win the meet, but I’ll definitely get nominated for an Oscar. And before y’all point it out, I know my MP is actually more of a push press. I expect to get hammered.

The Oscar is yours! Great stuff…love the look from the guy in the background while you are doing your treadmill shuffle…Oh yeah, some very nice lift totals!!!
