Why does this bother you? On my “Mexican Libertarians” thread, you said, “Awesome…good for them.” These people don’t appear to be doing damage to private property, only rebelling against rule.

I’m assuming that you missed the part where they ran over and killed an innocent bystander?
The Mexicans were rebelling against a Cartel that was enslaving and killing them…these people are throwing bottles at innocent people and shooting guns in the air(that never hurts anybody…right?)
rebelling against rule is one thing, endangering the lives of people around you who have no interest in rebelling is quite another.

Forgot about the pedestrian, but who knows who ran over him(maybe it’s known now, but I don’t believe they gave an offender’s name on the video)? Collateral damage can certainly occur when people engage in that type of behavior, but I am encouraged by the behavior shown in the video, not worried. Every pedestrian on that street could be run over and killed, and that damage would pale in comparison to the damage done by the authorities in Elk, Texas, on April 19, 1993.
These people appear to be rebelling against the police, who are not an innocent party. The folks in Mexico were shown disarming the police.

Come off it dude. There is not some righteous cause here. They should roll in on these things with SWAT and cart them all off to prison (or crack there skulls) were they belong.

There should be law and order…which I imagine that the vast majority of people in Oakland want.

I don’t know how much of a majority that majority is anymore. Oakland has always had this problem with authority and rebellion for decades, and the city’s catering to the unwashed masses is no help.

I agree that should happen to the person who ran over the man lying on the road, if the offender is located and found guilty in court. Other than that, I saw a lot of stupidity, but no harm done. If we’re going to punish stupid behavior, where do we stop? There appear to be plenty of people voluntarily standing around those acting stupid in the video. The best solution would be to stay away from those folks if you don’t want to be around them(I would not want to be around them).

The vast majority of taxpayers probably want that. Why should they have to spend money to deal with this stuff, which isn’t affecting them(I don’t know the exact layout of Oakland, but I imagine it’s much like other cities, in that these dipshits pretty much stay to themselves, in their own area of town)? Let the taxpaying areas secede from the city, so they don’t have to pay to police idiots.
