Confession: I’m pissed at Ronnie Coleman after saying in a recent interview that he may never walk again because the surgeon who did his latest back surgery did a bad job and was just in it for the money.
No, Big Ron, you may never walk again because you’ve spent the last couple years deciding to keep training like a 33-year old Mr. Olympia competitor instead of training like a 53-year old who’s had 5+ spinal surgeries, while your quote about “My only regret is squatting 800 for 2 reps instead of 4” gets repeated by 20-year olds who want to copy your “it was all worth it, YOLO”-attitude.
Here’s the problem with it. Dudes wear sleeveless shirts and tanks to display the gun show. Chicks wear spandex to do the same.
Some dudes wear oversized XXLs and sweats because they just dont care to be looked at. Cant say I’ve ever seen a chick doing something similar to avoid attention. As the kids say these days, “stay woke”.
Absolutely. They want the attention. Just look at social media. My goodness these girls need some self esteem and confidence.
I think I’ve said it once (in this very thread) but I’ll say it again. Spandex is the biggest fraud in the fashion industry LOL! Those tights with the high waist are creating a figure that isn’t really there. But I still look.
I tell my wife this all the time. Some of these girls would be better off just working at a club dancing on a pole. At least get paid in real money for exposing yourself rather than paid in imaginary internet points.
Yes I understand that some people do make money off it, but the minority. All strippers at least get paid something.
My wife and I always wonder what would happen to a person if they got ZERO likes or comments after posting something slutty. We all see the responses. The girls are all like “you’re so pretty”, “beautiful”, “gorgeous”, “I want to look like you”…
What if there was nothing. Just internet silence. Would the poster be upset? Would they be crushed? If the answer is yes, then they have proved that the only reason they’re posting things is for validation.
I think we can all fall victim to that mentality from time to time. We post something we think is cool and people comment on it and we feel good. But some people live on that type of stuff.
Here’s a perfect example. It’s a movie but it’s incredibly accurate… how has humanity fallen so far???
This is why it makes me laugh while simultaneously infuriates me when young’ns say dumb shit like “I’d rather die than be average”. Wait until you’re 30 and wake up with back-pain, daily.
Good news: shouldn’t have to spend money on an axle/farmer’s handles/sandbags etc. for event practice for strongman. She Who Must Be Obeyed will be pleased.
Bad news: this actually works out more expensive in the long run, as I will have to attend three different gyms* to do everything I need to.
Good news: she is terrible at maths and I think I can probably get away with it.
*My nearest has everything I need for static strength, but the ceilings are about 7ft from the floor so I can’t do standing overhead movements and it’s pretty tiny so there’s no room for moving event practice.
That means that for one day each week I’ll need to go to another gym further away, which is not a hobbit hole but again has no room for moving event practice.
That means that my events day will necessitate driving and/or bussing to the Crossfit gym during their open gym on Saturdays. They have farmer’s handles, bags, axles, the works.
Tall people problems. My basement is under 7’ in height and I can OHP no problem.
I never considered this issue, until a friend of mine came over for a workout and pressed the weight overhead into the floor joists, luckily just missing the lights.
Always bugged me too that the quote is from Mike Bell, who died from drug use that was potentially exacerbated by a generally average (arguably below-average) career in pro wrestling.
Forgot to mention extremely mentally unstable. Makes that quote even more macabre considering his suicide attempt depicted in the documentary prior to his eventual death.
