Altitude training, duh.
Maybe there was a Flash Flood warning you were unaware of?
I have seen that aswelll once! So it seems to be an international thing ![]()
Since @Frank_C has requested I stop bragging on my two sons…
I will admit that I am scared as fuck regarding my youngest son attending art school this fall. Afraid he will end up living with until hes 40 or living in a van down by the river making very little working at some low level tattoo parlor. Not really thrilled about it…
My son just got his Master’s in…Philosophy.
Maybe our kids can be baristas at the same Starbucks.
Didn’t think of that… Maybe he will bring me home some.
There’s nothing to be worried about @bulldog9899 @EyeDentist. The trend with big consultancies is to hire arts graduates because of their creativity and out-of-the box thinking.
They’ll be fine.
I hope so😥
He can always get a teaching degree after. Teachers never want for work.
My son is working at a summer camp in Colorado this summer. (Must be nice.) In case he doesn’t have a job lined up when he gets back–and as he doesn’t even have a lead at the moment, I strongly suspect he won’t–the plan is for him to substitute-teach while he works out something more permanent. Further, as his undergrad degree is in Mathematics, I’m encouraging him to consider teaching full-time.
Ugh …the whole concepts that these two things are somehow mutely exclusive anymore and should be trained separate goes against allot of my old school philosophy.
ironically my sister has her Masters in education…
Does she want for work?
It’s only because they look bigger and stronger than me. I don’t think I’ll be able to catch up since I’m already 33 ![]()
He could just go on to get his PhD while teaching undergrads in a university. Then he could get a position somewhere and eventually get tenure. All the time cranking out more philosophy majors. He’ll just have to convince himself he isn’t participating in “Amway with a football team” haha.
In all seriousness if he can make a compelling case in written and verbal form he’ll be light years ahead of spreadsheet jockeys and wonks in business.
Yesterday I failed a set of squats. I don’t think that’d ever happened.
I was supposed to do 3 hard sets of 5 and on the third rep of the second set, when I was in the hole, I lost tension for a second and realized I wasn’t going to be able to come back up. Luckily I was using the safety pins.
I unloaded the bar and moved onto the rest of the workout (figured that’d be it for squats). The rest of the session went well but man, did I feel bad about those squats
My folks were worried about my going into the Arts,… especially after the plan was to become an orthopedist (started my undergrad pre-med but then went to film school for grad work -lol). The thing people don’t realize is that the “arts” includes the entertainment industry, and there’s plenty of $ in there. Heck, I was a couple of months into my (first) grad degree and I got my first professional offer from Fox. Big studios are always looking for creatives, because that’s the root of every great product line that makes the “suits” millions.

I agree! Pretty sure the people who designed the characters for Avatar, Lord of the Rings, all those animated movies, and etc… are not living in a van down by the river!
I actually earned my MA in Philosophy then went back to school to earn my education license and Masters in Ed. I used to regret the MA in Philosophy, but now recognize that I would be a far worse teacher without it.
As long as they don’t dig an impossible financial aid hole, I wouldn’t be too concerned.
Also, I was a barista for many years haha.
Confession: I have never used photoshop, twitter, reddit, instagram, snapchat, Amazon, ebay or spotify. I also only very rarely use Facebook or YouTube. Sometimes I feel like I’m missing out, but than I remember I don’t give a shit.
