I went to the gas station to get stuff, and a young guy pulled up beside me blaring the Red Hot Chili Peppers cover to “Higher Ground”.
So I’m like, “ Hey I love that cover for the original”
I don’t know what pissed me off more, the fact that he didn’t know what a song cover was, or the fact that this simpleton straight up asked me who the hell Stevie Gotdamn Wonder was.
So done with life.

I love the RHCP version, because it showcases what the song sounds like through a lead guitar, but Wonder’s version is like the perfect example of what funky music sounds like. The bassist is kicking ass throughout the entire song, and the synth comes in right on time back to back.

He’s a bit tied with the Bassists of Parliament Funkadelic, for me. I can’t call their names out of memory but I did see the whole crew live with my dad. But still…darn us kids lol. We’re still too young to fully get the experience in the way back then lol.
