The Flame-Free Confession Thread

You mean how some people post videos of them lifting the bumper plates, and it looks like a ton, but it’s only like 35 pounds? -lol

(Actually, in some videos, you can see Jason Blaha subtly hiding the bumper plates between real olympic 45’s)

My hair’s brown, but apart from that there’s not much difference between us.

The missus and I are planning a bucket-list trip to the UK and Ireland next year, so you may get a chance to prove this.

That scene reminds me of one of my all-time favorite Simpsons lines. On another occasion, after Skinner had yet again done Willie wrong:

Willie (angrily): Okay Skinner, that’s the last time you’ll slap your Willie around!

If I find you have come to the UK and not given me a chance to prove it I will be a very unhappy man!

Seriously, mate; Edinburgh’s a great city and it’d be a privilege to show you guys around. Definitely hit me up if you make the trip.

Probably why I like Tate … and I resemble the middle pic slightly (very slightly)at the moment. So yeah im heading down the same road. Only positive is my joints are not as jacked up from when he leaned up.

Yeah so have I… but what do you expect?

Even the Great One couldn’t pull off using 25’s but claiming that they were his own custom made 45’s for extended ROM on pulls.

That’s actually quite annoying. That 25 looks bigger than my Wal Mart 45 (Diamond Pro). I guess it might look cool to some folks but once you start pulling 4 plates it’s nice to have some thinner stuff.

Man I miss Pendlay plates. I wish they had done a better job of announcing they were going out of business; I woulda bought WAY more stuff.

Five days ago, I was working up to a heavy squat for a triple. I felt a significant twinge in my back. So I though the smart thing to do was only do a small jump for the next set to test it out.

I felt a worse twinge, so I thought the smart thing to do was FSL type set up at 60%.

After the first few sets, I felt my back start to cramp up. So I thought the smart thing to so is to drop to 3 reps and do speed sets with a bit less weight for more sets.

Soon, I felt my back cramp up so I though the smart thing to do is doubles. A few more sets, it felt like I was going to cramp with doubles. So I thought it would be smart to not do doubles and completed the sets with singles.

I had trouble standing straight but I had pause squats to do. I thought it would be dumb to load up my back, so iso seated leg press with a pause at the bottom of my ROM was the smart thing to do.

I finished with some isolation work.

Today, I could finally walk without feeling like I was being stabbed in the back. I walk past a guy at work and he says “Why are you leaning on one side?”. Apparently I’m leaning into the hurt side

Looking back at this, I’m trying to figure out how I convinced myself that I was making smart choices haha
