*humongous fish
Lol flame away, but deep down you know it’s true ![]()
Before this gets ugly I should probably clarify that I don’t specifically ask to work in just to show the person up. They’ll be using the DL mat or squat rack or whatever and I’ll ask to work in because I don’t feel like sitting around until they’re done. And I’m not going to barge in on their session and start stripping off plates and loading them back on and taking up more of the persons time, so I’ll just start hitting whatever they have on the bar.
Me either Spock.
Especially as a woman where our bodies tend to Hold onto fat a bit more than males.
But in knowing this I realize I’m doing nothing wrong. I thought there was a problem, because I wasn’t sub 19-20%, and while I was overeating a bit, now that I’ve lowered calories enough, I’m still progressing just as much as when I first started training.
As much I’d love to start seeing my abs more, I have no problem sporting the thick powerlifter look if it means I still get to chase the strength rabbit.
At the moment I’ve got a hint of abs showing, so I’ll take that. Lol
You have super human strength though so clearly you’re choosing the right path lol !
More like super college kid strength lol
A hint of abs is better than a lot of flabs. I’d take a 315 squat and 1 ab any day of the week ![]()
See my confession a while back. I feel you dude!
I’ve said abs aren’t worth shit for years and now I’m starting to see them for the first time ever I want more more MORE
I had the opposite experience last night - guys wanting to share the squat rack and doing 70kg on heavy sets while I was doing 170kg. The weights area was rammed with lifters, which is cool (especially if they’re all on benches and not getting in my goddamn way OMG THERE ARE KIDS ON MY LAWN) but they’re…not squatting three figures. In fact I was looking around to see how many of them I could squat.
I have pretty low standards for people in the gym and am always willing to give credit. Like when I see someone squat 80 kg to depth I am almost kind of proud of them. Or I see someone pull 130 kg I think wow that is a lot of weight. Until I realize that it isn’t that much actually.
For women it is even more true. I see a woman pull 50 kg and think “wow that ia really good”. Then I realize that my girlfriend does more than twice as much while weighing less.
I guess it is a phenomen that occurs when you spend all your time in commercial gyms where ambitious strength athletes are a rare execption.
And when you actually see impressive feats of strength it blows your mind.
I saw a girl, not petite but certainly no SHW, clean and jerk 105kg. Cue shock and awe.
Absolutely!
On the internet you see fantastic feats of strength everyday. So much so that you lose context and stop realizing and appreciating those displays of strength. Or maybe it is just something else to witness it with your own eyes.
Indeed. Initially I assumed it was going to be an ambitious deadlift attempt (she was psyching herself up) then Boom.
I was just reading the Bodybuilding Fads and Scams thread and thought of this…
The US sucks when it comes to pharmaceuticals (big shocker, right?).
You can go in to the doctor and whine and receive a prescription for meds to treat anxiety, depression, or pain without much of an assessment. The pain meds are really bad because doctors are afraid of getting sued if they refuse to “treat” a patient. They hand out pills that are forms off heroine and methamphetamine and create addicts.
Why the hell won’t they do this with anabolics? Get caught with a bodybuilding drug and you can be arrested for possessing a controlled substance (felony charges). How did our politicians get this so messed up?
“I’m sad and in pain.”
“Here’s a prescription for zoloft and hydrocodone.”
“Doc, I want to max out my test levels and add 20 lbs of muscle in the next year.”
“I can’t help you. Your test levels are within the normal range.”
Brilliant.
It sounds like you just really wanna do some steroids ![]()
I do!
Unfortunately, the politicians scapegoated them for other problems and banned them. That has skewed public perception as well as sports scandals (it’s cheating). So now it’s both illegal and frowned upon. It’s dumb.
I’d get in trouble at work if I used them and got caught. Although they updated the drugs for which they test and gave us a list
. It didn’t appear to have any steroid type stuff on there.
So if I used then I’d be a cheater and a criminal. But if I’m sad or stressed then I’m good to go with a stimulant-depressant cocktail!
This is just my rant against our system. It’s set up to treat illnesses (mostly self inflicted by diet and lifestyle) instead of preventing them.
I’m getting older by the minute and my responsibilities keep increasing so I might like a little help on the training side of things. Unfortunately I’m left on my own trying unregulated supplements hoping for a little energy while I lift.
What’s safer—the shelves at the supplement store or a doctor with legit pharmaceutical grade stuff? I’m sure Brad at GNC it’s much more knowledgeable than doc.
While on this topic, I found it rather odd when I was vacationing in Florida a few weeks ago and had to go through an interview process to purchase Advil Cold and Sinus.
They took down our name, address, required our driver’s license, we had to sign a form confirming we would only use the medication for its intended purposes, etc.
I want to know, what the heck you Americans are doing with your Advil Cold and Sinus?! I want in. We buy this shit by the case at Costco, no questions asked.
Here in 'Merica folks used to enjoy making their own meth. They were stealing anhydrous ammonia from farmers, stealing lithium batteries, sudafed, and other stuff. To stop it, we now have laws where you can get charged for possessing precursors to manufacturing meth. If you get caught with the right type of batteries, coffee filters, red matches (or just the red tips), and sudafed then you might find yourself in jail.
They also set a limit on the amount of sudafed you can purchase. It’s a pain during a rough patch because I can’t buy two boxes of my favorite medicine because it’s too much. I have to wait till the next month.
It has successfully stopped the manufacturing of meth; however, the cartels in Mexico saw opportunity. They now supply better meth for less money.
Oh, happy day for meth addicts! The product is more pure, cost less, and no more blowing yourself up in your garage!
There’s no meth in Canada?
Sounds like a song by Terrance and Phillip.
