I don’t follow MP, but I just came across a pic of one of the guys competing in the NY Pro (Sadik Hadzovik)…I this is what the typical MP Pro looks like, I have no idea how anyone could argue that there aren’t many quality physiques in that division.
The biggest problem with MP is the presentation: the posing is cheesy and the board shorts hide 1/3 of their physique.
The picture is showing up as the big red T Box so I had to google sadik hadzovic.
Why shy why!!
Soooooo much pubes
Sorry? That’s the only picture I’ve ever seen of him so of course after you said this, I had to google him to see what in the world you were talking about. I thought his physique was impressive in the picture I posted. Some of the stuff google came up with, uh, no thanks.
And speaking of impressive physiques, I can’t think of a woman that has a more perfect physique than Juliana Malacarne. “Flame-free” = No “Eww. She looks like a man” or “I would/would not hit it” comments right?
I think the idea of an iron culture or brotherhood is ridiculous. I appreciate the help I’ve received on the forums but it’s not like we are all in some special club because we like lifting weights. There’s quite a lot of smart, helpful people here and I’m thankful they are willing to give advice but man I can’t stand people talking about lifting weights like it’s some philosophy or religion.

I get a lot of questions from young kids because I teach in a high school during the day. One thing I always try to drive home, is that succeeding with your physique goals doesn’t make you better than anyone else. Big arms? Cool. Huge bench numbers? Great. At the end of the day, people will either like you for being a decent person, or hate you for being an ass. I think the best iron-folk that I’ve met and interacted with over the years all reach a point where things all fall into perspective.

To add to this, I think the very idea of being hardcore because you lift weights is ridiculous.

I look at it as just my particular path to love lifting weights and striving to be bigger. That does not make me any better or worse. People have different goals, hobbies, dreams and that is awesome. I find great inspiration in anyone going after their dreams and using their strengths to achieve greatness in whatever that may be.

That and thinking just because someone is muscle bound that they can kick ass in fighting. I know plenty of guys far smaller than me that I would NEVER want to fight as they would kick my damn teeth in. And besides I am a lover not a fighter. I will just shoot you. =D
I get annoyed in the RMP forum when people automatically assume a skinny guy asking for advice is a troll. A lot of people think they’re bigger then they really are just cause the people surrounding them don’t lift weights.
@Bauber-And that is exactly why I have the respect for you that I do. Also, I am by no means saying that all the “bigger” guys on here act that way. I actually really enjoy SteelyD’s posts as well as your own and a number of others’. @illadelphia91-I know what you mean. God forbid that a beginner actually ask for help unless he is ready to be bombarded with negative comments and destructive criticisms. I have noticed that, as of late, this site seems to be full of guys ready to talk about the progress they’ve made, but seem far too ready to talk down to others who might not have made said progress.

x2. The last year or so I’ve really learned to open my mind a bit and befriend alot of people who are driven in things like triathlons, cycling, marathons, kick boxing, etc. Hard working people bond with hard working people…period. Bodybuilding is such a small percentage of the population, I’m thrilled to run into physically active people who actually push themselves towards goals. Who cares if they can’t count macros and can’t lift heavy things?

100% agreement. I probably respect them more as I see weight lifting as fun and easy same with macros. But doing a triathlon, marathon anything like that blows my mind. I hate that shit yet these people can push themselves through it. So they get large amounts of respect for me. The ones that don’t are the ones that think themselves and their ability to exercise for long aerobic periods is gods gift to humanity Just like I hate weight lifters that do the same

This.
Although not my preferred method of training at this point in my life, I actually find some Crossfit vids quite motivating and inspiring for my own training. The weights don’t have to be heavy and the people don’t have to be big.
Attitude and determination come in all sizes (I try to convince my wife of this when I drop my pants)

I wouldn’t mind having that physique pressed against me…
I really wish people on this site would understand the term “relatively speaking (or typing)” If someone states something to the effect of “that was a hardcore workout” it goes w/o saying that it is in the realm of lifting weights, no one is comparing it to the single mother who is working three jobs to support her children, or the Fireman who forgoes his own safety to save a newborn or the soldier who saved his fellow soldier with one leg. It is a bit self righteous.

The problem with this, is that they are not reading the rules of that forum, and there is a beginner section wherein you will get advice you are looking for.

I took a hardcore dump this morning, relatively speaking. A no wiper at that.
Thats not hardcore, trying taking a dump in Chechnya while rebels are shooting at you, and all you have to wipe is the blood of your comrades…now thats hardcore

What if I told you I ate a large quantity of thumbtacks the night prior? What that be hardcore?
