Watch Eddie Strongman. It was really good. The guy is intense.
This also makes for a good story. The moocher vs the gift ![]()
This thread made me go back and watch Pumping Iron again today. The only two bad things about it:
-
Mike Katz’ hair is distractingly awful
-
Lou Ferigno’s dad is unbearable. Literally everything he says is obnoxiously scripted. I feel like Lou would have had a much better shot if he had had a real coach
I have, but it has nothing to do with powerlifting. That’s why I said power unlimited. It was a really great doc though
I watched it and it was fine. It wasn’t my favorite documentary but it’s not the worst. It followed Kai for a bit but I felt like it showed Calum more.
It was eye opening to see how little Calum tries compared to the greats. He doesn’t measure his food. He doesn’t plan ahead too much. I know it’s a movie but it showed him signing up for a show that was two weeks away. His buddy asked when he was going to start dieting and he said “Tomorrow.”
He won.
The show made him look like he’s skating by on genetics compared to everyone else.
I noticed that about Calum as well but wasnt sure how much was just editing or also what level that show was at. The one thing I did notice for all of them was that the movie made it look like a lonely lifestyle. All went home to empty appartments.
Not all of them! Hidetada Yamagishi goes home to
Iris Kyle; but I think I’d rather be alone.
I must be out of “the scene” because … confession time… I don’t know who Calum is
I’ll probably throw it on in the background like I said before, although I find myself increasingly disinterested keeping up with the sport.
So just like Heath?
I hadn’t heard of him either until recently, but I have to admit he’s one of my favorite modern bodybuilders now, physique wise. Hopefully he keeps the “classic” look and doesn’t turn into another mass monster
When you come me from a land down under you only know Calum and Josh
He kind of is skating by on genetics but that’s fine, most people can’t get anywhere close to that even if they tried. What I got from the movie is bodybuilding is dying (at least at the top Mr O level) and social media is taking over whatever it was.
Agreed. In the right angle he has a similar chest to Arnie.
The thing is for PED bodybuilders, they will always want to keep improving so isn’t it just enevitable that if they can become a mass monster, they eventually will?
Holy shit just found out Calum is playing as Arnie in a new movie called Bigger.

I think he wants to follow Arnold. He was talking about getting acting roles in the movie. I can’t believe he’s only 6’2".
As far as bodybuilding goes, the classic physique is better than the distended gut.
Perhaps the sport is struggling because there are big people everywhere now. We’re kind of used to it.
These new guys are just so boring. Aside from living relatively uninteresting lives, there’s
not a single guy with half the charisma of Arnold.
Pumping Iron, on the other hand, could have been an hour longer with even more drama. All they had to do, for example, was get Sergio Olivia to tell his story about escaping from communist Cuba, or Mentzer abusing uppers and babbling about philosophy.
Sergio Oliva’s son is playing him as well. I can’t stand Weider, but I love Calum, so I’ll try it.
Was this the show on muscle beach? If it was, there was no one even remotely impressive there so it’s no surprise. He looked like a guest poser. He uploaded all of those to his YouTube later I think and Antoine Viallant took videos of all the “prep” with Frank McGrath.
… was show more Katz and Weller shirt drama.
I can’t see him doing that because he doesn’t have any want to do that. He likes being a body women love that gets attention. Plus, he doesn’t seem to care about being at the top. Like @Frank_C said, he barely diets and never counts or weighs anything. He just lifts and lives. Ha
