The Flame-Free Confession Thread

A lot of strongman stuff is held in parking lots. Kinda sad really, but I guess thats just where the sport is at during this time in its history.

In this case its called being a tight ass… I know for a fact this Fed is not hurting for memberships. Matter of fact their numbers have risen.

Ha yeah… Sometimes you do the math on these events and are left scratching your head as to where all that money is going. Some BBing/physique shows can get hundreds of entrants @ $100/piece and some of them do multiple classes at the same show

Same thing here but not as expensive …Kicker is the the place hosting it, I think is owned by someone whom is high up in the Fed.

BB promoters know what they are doing. They take money from everyone.

Can’t get to 240lbs? You can still play and win
Can’t get to 240lbs and aren’t a dwarf? You can play and win.
Don’t want to train legs? You can play and win
Are a woman and don’t want to look muscular? You can play and win
… and the list goes on and will continue to as they identify large enough segments. Everyone pays ofcourse.

In strongman, fuck me, most of these promoters dont even want you near their show if you’re not pressing 120kgs. Thankfully this seens to habe changed.

And let’s not even begin with the powerlifting issues.

It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.

Pull, when you’ve got it…

Lets just say its a down grade in the venue from in the past… little extra profit for the Fed I guess.

National strongman comps no, but local comps for sure.

Yeah, I may have undersold that. There are ones taking place in good venues. I think @alpha won a regional one recently that was in a parking lot.

For sure… I think the womens figure division alone is broken up by height every 3 inches. Its actually the womens figure, bikini, and mens physique that exploded the number of entrants as far as I can tell. Oh and its $50 from everyone they invite to watch the night show

I dont begrudge the promoters for expanding… only so many people are willing to do what you need to do to be a full on BBer, and those numbers seem to be getting smaller. Cant rent out an auditorium when only 24 guys and 3 women are paying to compete

Right now, for that fed, there is just local and national. In local shows you can have level 1 and level 2, but that is more about attendance levels and competition weight. It is actually more telling that there are no regional qualifiers to get to nationals.

This is the first hurricane for which I’ve ever done more than simply stocked up at the liquor store to prepare. I even bought $300 in plywood and screws. That’s $300 I don’t have for gym toys and vodka. I guess I can repurpose some of it to improve my deadlift platform when it’s over, but damn.

Maybe it’s time to vacation in Seattle for a week. Get far away from that nonsense.

Where are ya’ll? How far from the coast?

Flame-Free: You can out work a poor diet.

I like when I’m eating pre cooked bagged chicken or beef and people say “There’s a lot of sodium in that/how do you know if it’s real chicken/it’s not better than real chicken” Same goes for diet drinks. I drink them because I like the taste of it over regular ones, not for “health” reasons. Also, I could go my whole life and never hear “you have enough water?” when I’m carrying a gallon again and it would be too soon.

True fact… well some people can, for a while. Howard has 6 percent body fat eating 24 candy bars a day. Mariuz ate pounds of Skittles per day.

With his glucose levels dangerously high, Howard cut himself off from sweets entirely, eliminating things like, you know, the 30 pounds of Skittles the company once sent him. Since his diet change, Howard has seen his body fat drop from 6 percent to 3, as well as significantly decreasing his glucose levels. He’s also feeling as good as he ever has since his back surgery.

I thought Mariusz’ alleged vice was chocolate and bacon.

But that being said, it’s amazing how hard you have to work to outtrain a bad diet. I managed to do it with Building the Monolith for 6 weeks, but I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Most people trying to outtrain a bad diet aren’t working nearly hard enough, haha.

Ya, I remember reading about Michael Phelps diet two Olympics ago. Absolutely atrocious, but he needs so much energy that it didn’t seem to matter at all (at least from a body comp. perspective).

Lol, very true.

Despite many years of rallying against them, I am legitimately considering using a weight gainer for my next training cycle simply because I am so sick of all the time I have to spend cooking and cleaning to eat enough to grow.
