Being prosperous and being safe aren’t necessarily the same.
That said, my dad worked two jobs to keep his family’s head above water. I don’t have to do that and I can provide more than he could ( I swear, my kids - not yet in school - have already eaten out more than I had my entire pre-adult life).
Kids out of college these days don’t even want to work a 5 day week… I’ll take that, even if there is more danger.

It would be great if we could all wake up and do whatever. I would do so much more. Instead I’m glued to one place waiting on the next work day to begin.
I’ve just finished training and without checking the time I reheated the left over Chinese takeaway from last night and chased it down with 60g of whey and 400ml of whole milk…
Then looked at the clock and realised I’m meeting the family for a meal in 30 minutes.
This concept of “leftover” is alien to me

But you’re a teacher! You get breaks the rest of us don’t so there’s that.
My wife and I make the same amount of money ($300 difference in gross income last year). The major difference is Thanksgiving break, Christmas break, Spring break, and Summer break… She’s actually making more than me since she only shows up for work for about 9.5 months out of the year.

I turn stuff into a competition with my husband a lot. Who can carry the most groceries in one trip. Who can move a piece of a furniture quicker. Who can go without taking a break from doing whatever demanding task is at hand. Who can mow the lawn faster.
