This is how I feel about deadlifts, I stopped doing them a couple weeks back. Squats have been great though, I just plan to keep zeroing dl events in comps and make up the points with presses and carries.
Just get under the implement and squat it up. Rules don’t say you can’t.
I think I might have seriously fucked up my left wrist
Edibles. Nuff said. Lol
I’m not alone!
So just as I commit to really hammering my squats, they suddenly become unpopular? Sounds about right.
I always did squats because I felt like in order to train “properly”, you needed to, and because I wanted big strong legs. But I really don’t find any enjoyment in them.
Deadlifting? Hell yes. Pressing? Yes. Benching? Meh. Squatting? No.
Honestly I’d rather push and pull a sled/prowler for leg work. That’s fun.
I just made an entire thread about squatting in place of deads lol
Flame free:
I’m looking forward to squatting later today.
You mad lad, you.
I confess that sometimes I think about doing something really kooky, like building a program around weird lifts like zercher deadlifts and continuous clean & presses. Just for shits and giggles.
For me it’s the opposite. Not that I don’t hate deadlifts. But focusing on squats helps my deadlift, not really the other way around.
I found exactly the same. I got not-shit at deadlifting because I enjoyed it and focused on it. Didn’t help my piss weak squat at all
I understand, but at least you’re good at them. I’m weak and hate them.
I am good at squats the same way a fish is good at the kazoo.
I dunno, the band they can pull off some surprises
Sadly enough, all the workouts I did this week have felt like that.
The dichotomy of the squat/dead discussion here is amusing. I can’t push deadlifts for more than 2-3 reps because of my lumbar deformity. I can squat all day and maaaaaaaaaybe be slightly sore in the knees the next day. Squatting helps just about every other lift for me, deadlifting helps be more athletic. For some reason, I like both though. The human body is one twisted mess of garble, I tell ya.
Another confession: I’m a complete gear-whore for music. I spent my whole evening working on getting an old guitar of mine back into working condition and had a blast doing it. Electronics repair (splattered 400 C solder flux on my face - don’t recommend it), new strings, full setup for action height, intonation, and truss rod adjustment.
I also have a new pedal coming today and can’t focus on my work because I’m too excited about it. Lucky to have multiple hobbies that still bring me childlike excitement.
There is probably a reason why I don’t like either.
When I’m done squatting, I can’t walk because my legs won’t support me.
When I’m done deadlifting, I can’t stand up because my back won’t support me.
Yay. At least when I press/bench press, I can stand up and walk like a semi-normal human being.
There’s also a chance I’m a candy-ass that doesn’t push either lift as hard as some people.
