The Flame-Free Confession Thread II

I confess that, when I came up with the weight gain plan of “5/3/1 BBB Beefcake to Building the Monoltih to Deep Water” it appears that I forgot to include the secret ingredient of “don’t f**k it up”

Nope, lots of teenagers use candles or incense to cover up the smell of weed.

Good life advice in general.

You are a saint by the way

I’ll take the compliments where I can get them, but you’ve lost me on this one.

You have continued to render advice on that weight gain protocol where I have given up.

I have far more limited opportunities to help than you. There are far fewer people who are less accomplished than me in the weight room.

You also have far more patience, haha.

I can put up with sets across for about a month before it gets to me. I’ll then ramp and use an average intensity.

I’m trying something like a work up to xRM then -10% and sets across but the RM’s get heavier each week. 8rm 6rm 5rm 3rm.

I confess I am about a hair away from selling my buffalo bar and safety squat bar and just never squatting again.

And it’s not the ACL or pain or discomfort; I just can’t bring myself to care about squats.

I have twice the number of children you do.

I thought squats were important in strongman though? Well not squats per se, but leg strength

Do squats help you get bigger and stronger?

They do, but not in a way I particularly care about these days. It’s the total “take your vitamins” workout for me.

@whang Strongman is just something I do for fun these days. I have basically stopped training to be the best strongman and instead just train to be strong the way I want and then go compete.

Some strongman don’t even squat, while some stick with front squats.

The spark is still little bit there with the SSB, but it is dim.

Time to go Crossfit?

It was the original plan, but my shoulder can’t handle it.

You better hope you look good in a kilt then, because Highland Games might be the only strength sport left.

Too much skill, haha. Strongman scratches the itch just fine; I don’t foresee there being any sport out there that I will be compelled to be the best at compared to just training for my own goals. Right now, strict press and deadlift do the trick. But every squat workout I wanna skip, haha.
