I never knew Lethal Weapon was considered a Christmas movie lol. Whatever, I’m just going to watch Loaded Weapon this Christmas.
In my family, forgetting someone is the gift.
PC’s initially “splash” onto the internet fitness scene was as “Friend of Wendler”. Wendler and PC collaborated on what they considered (by their standards) a strong person could do, and when it was revealed to the internet universe, EXTENSIVE discussion ensued. (bringing PC “relevance”)
Way back when, some relatively strong dude (geared lifter I think) apparently claimed Wendler’s style of training was not effective/could not make you strong. Wendler casually entered some powerlifting comp within a week or so, and put up an elite total. Case closed.
Wendler’s track record speaks for itself. He gives no fucks what anybody else says. He needs no false justifications.
(…exits Wendler’s jock, ends rant)
And for the record, I’m an old time PC fan. Bought his first book (hard cover), signed, it came with an awesome T-Shirt as well.
No idea how this current iteration evolved to be honest.
Same, I like a lot of his stuff. Recently he’s just morphed into this annoying fruitloop.
Everyone would end up being Young Dopamine.
Young Bbwassporn?
I dunno. Maybe I’m not cut out to be a rapper.
Also remember, if you wait more than 15 secs between exercises of a superset, then it’s not a superset.
Damn, you! I saw that and was disappointed. It’s the first thing he’s ever posted that I didn’t like.
I do “supersets” and have observed the following: doing one exercise and resting 30 sec before doing the next goes better than doing both back to back and then resting 60 sec. Total rest time is equal but performance on exercise 2 is much better with the 30 sec rest.
To clarify further, a super set is defined as doing two exercises together that work different muscles (bench and row). A combo set is two exercises that target the same muscle (bench and fly’s).
Most people do combo sets but call them super sets.
Total rest time is equal but performance on exercise 2 is much better with the 30 sec rest.
I don’t think this is the point. The second exercise is supposed to take a blow. If you’re resting 30 seconds, with the purpose of increasing performance on the second set, I would absolutely argue that that’s not a superset. I would in fact argue that combo sets done with no rest between are more supersets than two sets done with a half minute rest. By your rationale you could say that exercise one, rest 5 minutes, exercise two: is the same as exercise 1, exercise 2, rest 5 minutes. The lack of rest between sets is literally what discerns a superset from straight sets, and what makes them so sucky.
Gentlemen, gentlemen,
ALL sets are supersets.
Why?
Because rest between sets is impossible.
Think about this logically: in order to travel the space of time between 0 seconds and 60 seconds, it becomes necessary to FIRST travel half the distance between those points: 30 seconds. And to travel to 30 seconds, it becomes necessary to first travel half the distance between 0 and 30 seconds: 15 seconds.
This can be repeated indefinitely, as numbers are, in fact, infinite. Thus, we could never actually rest the amount of time necessary to reach 60 seconds of rest.
Therefore, there is no rest between any sets and all sets are super/combo sets.
This isn’t complicated but I’m tired and still finding myself confused. This seems like a thought you get when you’re high. Like my personal favorite - why does your nose run and your feet smell?

Don’t beat yourself up over it: Xeno of Elea pulled this trick on people a couple thousand years ago.

Me: sigh…back to Google

I’ve heard this story before and it always intrigued me. Any links? And this was after he made 5/3/1? After he supposedly retired from powerlifting?
Was this the one where he only took one attempt of each lift?
It’s been so long I genuinely don’t remember the story behind it. I feel like this was after one of his motorcycle wrecks and before he got surgery, which is why his bench grip is so narrow.
Man, he has great speed off of the bottom of all of his lifts.
