I never thought i’d see a reference to Xeno on T-Nation. Or anywhere, actually.
I actually have a squat workout I refer to as “Xeno squats”. You take something you can squat for 8-12 reps, go for a max rep set, rest for 12 breaths, then do half as many reps, rest of 12 breaths, half of that set, etc until you reach 1. If you’re feeling really feisty, you strip 90lbs and repeat.
By the end of it, you certainly agree that motion is impossible.
That sounds awful.
I must admit, I only know of most philosophy through Pratchett. I am uncultured.
Same, disappointed. With Thibs I have program when for instance I would superset heavy clusters of squats and leg curls with slow eccentric. 2 min rest before the curls, then 3 min. And it was hard as fuck
Or hypertrophy pairing two antagonist with 1 min each of rest
If travelling through time is something you consider an active act then you never rest between workouts either. As such, there is no recovery, there is only training. Always.
The logical conclusion would actually be that you never get to do the second set if you’re waiting 60 seconds.
Anyway, this is one of the few times I read a post of yours and I immediately get the reference. I call this a win lol
I’m about to drop $250 on a gift for my mom. I’d always promised that I’d spend my first paycheck on my parents and I’ve earned 550this semester so I can afford it. Does anyone have any qualms?
I need to place the order today or it might not arrive in time
@EmilyQ @ChickenLittle ( I tagged you guys since you’re both moms)
I say go for it. You can make more money, but you only get one mom. She will probably give you a lecture about how you shouldn’t have spent the money on her though. Doesn’t mean she doesn’t like it. It just means she loves you more.
I would recommend you’re spending $250 because that is the price of the gift of the gift you think is perfect, not $250 because you think that’s an appropriate amount of money.
But yes, that’s a great thing to do.
Honestly, I’d blow all 550, 250 is just the price of the item
Then I’m not needed here at all. Good call
To me a big question is whether it’s a thing she’ll love, or a thing she’ll be impressed by. Splurging for the exact thing that will make someone’s eyes go wide with joy may have validity. Impressing her, not as much. I would prefer modest gifts from kids who are struggling. (Don’t steal coffee to buy presents!)
definitely something she’ll love. It’s a pair of wine glasses she saw on display and said “wouldn’t it be nice to have a set”. I actually (half jokingly) promised to buy her a collection when I have money. Well, I have enough money, so I’m starting the collection
Technically, I’m not struggling. I just struggle to justify spending money on myself or spending other’s money
Okay, then I’m onboard.
Just don’t steal food.
I imagine he felt “better” at this time as well. From what I remember of his earliest writings he felt pretty fat and out of shape when he was powerlifting, and from what I can tell, he looks pretty good here. Not crazy lean but certainly not fat.
And that squat (really, everything) was awesome.
The older I get, the more I love the phrase “ I don’t know “
Again, by my definition, a superset would be two movements that train different muscles. I don’t want either to be lacking. This is also based on the premise that one rests after doing the superset. If there is no rest then it doesn’t matter.
My definition came from my CSCS text book and I just kept it.
Furthermore, none of this matters unless we’re competing. Outside of that, these are just words used to describe things.
It’s the internet brah everything is a competition.
I remember Coan saying in some video when asked about squat depth that he doesn’t care anymore as long as he close since he’s no longer competing. I loved that. Just pragmatism through and through.
Well he does have a artificial hip.
