The Face of Poverty in America

Exactly. There is no one starving in the USA.

This is a rubbish argument.

There is no one starving in Morocco either. But it doesn’t mean the widening of the social divide is healthy for society.[/quote]

There is no widening social divide here, ding dong; even our “poor” are rich. Morroco is a shithole and is not comparable to te U.S. in anyway.

So the only people that give out jobs in a significant quantity in this area are “exploiting” those workers?

Well, maybe they should move to India where people do not feel “exploited” at half the wages.

Think about it, helping India develop instead of “exploiting” Americans and at half the price…

It is the only moral thing to do…

Two examples of examples of worker exploitation in NE Ohio, one is the defunct company MCI went into bankruptcy and wrote off bonuses due its sales staff and the court discharged them. Second Lil Macs (A local corner store chain) fired a manager for theft, after the firing the thefts continued. The owner offered the manager his job back, the manager asked for an apology. The owner told him to get fucked. In neither case the Gov. would not address the situations.
I thought there were laws Two examples of worker exploitation in NE Ohio, one is the defunct company MCI went to protect employees from these types of abuses
If you are trying to make a realistic point about India, you will have to try again I don??t get it. Sorry

I agree with you even our poor are rich, I am talking about making these people productive members of society. You can not do that by paying a worker less than they can make on welfare

These people are unproductive because they’re fat and lazy. I’ve seen smaller adult elephant seals. There’s no way to sugar coat it. No one with any self respect wants to stay on welfare longer than they have to.

What do you do in a town of 10,000 workers when there are 9,000 jobs we are not even talking about school kids working after school and week ends. Then the next town is just like that but worst and so on and on you go until you are out of the geographical location.

Evidently you decide that the most productive thing to do is to eat as much as you can. There has got to be an answer to all of life’s problems at the bottom of a cheetos bag!

So if those laws are not enforced the government failed them and not the free market?

Calling someone “exploited” because his skills are not worth more at the marketplace is ridiculous.

Supply and demand, workers, you can get them for almost free, what we need are more immigrants to enforce low wages
What do you do for a living?

I no more think these people fat and lazy because of their financial situation then I think you stupid because of the depth your statements lack.

I guess we’re at the point in this country where we’re so coddled and PC that we’re not allowed to state or believe the obvious. The evidence of what I was saying was overwhelming from the article:

40 - 17 = 23. I had had several jobs by the time I was that age. I had also graduated high school. Graduation of high school speaks to one’s effort levels.

Woe is me! My grandparents nearly starved to death in the 1930s. My grandmother lived on a farm and had to catch wild rabbits for food sometimes. She also walked 5 miles to school.

No more ice cream? George Bush’s economic policies are literally starving these people to death! Did it ever dawn on them, from looking in the mirror, that they can do just fine with 1000 fewer calories a day?

So? You want laws forcing people to say, “sorry”?

You seem pretty hell-bent on talking about blue-collar workers from MI, OH, etc.

I take it this happened to you? You seem to be doing alright now, got internet access and enough spare cash to be a Level 3 Biotest buyer.

You do not need more immigrants.

If they cannot come to you, the money will go to them,

If that is no more possible, like it is already happening in Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Slowakia, human work will be replaced by machines.

You do forget that I come from a country of 8 million people and when the iron curtain fell we were practically surrounded by countries were people worked for 1/5 the wage of the average Austrian.

If you think I am not serious, look at a map.

Meanwhile, 300 million Americans cannot deal with the influx of 100 million Mexicans?

Get real.

Plus you are living off of 1500 years off rising productivity. The constant change was never fun, but that is why the poor in the US are actually fat and not starving.

Americans won’t tolerate starvation of anyone. We are a very kind-hearted people. Some people abuse that kindness, like the two ‘whales’ above.

That is not a question of how much you tolerate.

That is a question of how much resources you have.

No matter how kind hearted you are you cannot feed them without food or means to deliver it.

An even better statement would be this: You cannot do that by giving them welfare.

It sounds like it might work, but I am guessing the average American would have trouble watching kids suffer because of their lazy parents and I do believe among those that were young and healthy enough to work, crime would soar so we would pay for it one way or another.

No in a society that would take care of the working class, the guy would not only owe the manager an apology but also back wages.

“Take care” of the working class?

Jeez you really do talk about them like they’re animals.

If some boss fired me I’d find another job. Or go into business for myself.

…Hey that might have actually happened to me. Hmmmm…
