The End of Women’s Powerlifting?

Yeah,
You only have these problems in countries that don’t have real, life threatening problems.
No one is concerned with this stuff in Venezuela at the moment.

Adding phobia to a term is simply the woke way of avoiding having to present an argument with substance. It’s dismissive. You disagree with me because you are afraid, shame on you.

One problem with this is that phobias are psychological issues. They are mental disorders. They are manifestations of extreme anxiety (where have we heard anxiety before?).

When the woke use phobia in a derogatory, condescending, demeaning way, they are mocking a legitimate psychological condition. And these types of conditions are not a choice. No one chooses to have a phobia. The woke want everyone to sympathize with the anxieties and traumas their side feel. They need to be taken seriously and we need to accommodate them and their triggers. The woke however lack any compassion or humanity for others who have legitimate psychological issues if they are on the wrong side. They can be mocked and dehumanized. According to one poster here, contrary thought should buy one a bullet to the head.

A taser?

HAHAHAHA.

I would just identify as a woman and join the fray. The tranny wouldn’t like that outcome though.

I am pretty sure that last person has been roundly criticized by a number of LGBT people. The name seems familiar.

The housing market is fine.

Nothing is wrong.

Best economy ever.

If you have cash, the housing market is in your hands. If you need to borrow, you are fucked.

You damn elites are ruining everything!

Having to borrow blows and the US credit score system is bullshit but that’s a whole ‘nother thread.

This is what happens when you combine degeneracy and having no life. Imagine if your existence revolved around thinking about the things these weirdos obsess about.

The word is used commonly to describe relationships with someone who is trans (or intersex/born with hermaphrodite characteristics).

In the show ‘sex education’ one character dumps his girlfriend because she is non binary. When they are getting frisky she says “you realise we would be in a queer relationship if we decided to get serious right?”

He isn’t comfortable with the idea.

Not derogatory. By definition the word queer means “not aligned with heteronormative values”.

There’s a homoerotic tv show called queer as folk… actually there’s three of them. I’ve never seen any of them, but i’m very good with movie trivia. The most recent series aired in 2022.

Not derogatory. I’m not using the word to insult or belittle.

Social media does have it’s upside

Definitely.

I mean it really sucks for young folks right now trying to buy their first house for sure.

I am as pro capitalist as they come, but I think home ownership is very important. I think home loans for one house - your primary residence under a certain dollar amount should have mandated low interest rates or a cap on interest rates for those homes.

That is an entirely different discussion though than this thread lol.

Agreed, but hate the game not the playa!

It is difficult to keep up.

I found the Merriam Webster meaning of queer, if a noun.

2 of 3

noun

pluralqueers

sometimes disparaging + offensive, see usage paragraph below : a queer person: such as

a

: a person who is gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, or otherwise not heterosexual

… he fixed her hair and he did her makeup and showed her how to dress, and when he was done she was so beautiful that he fell in love with her even though he was a queer.—P. J. O’Rourke

b

: a person whose gender identity is nonbinary or differs from the sex they had or were identified as having at birth : a genderqueer or transgender person : a person who is not cisgender

Usage of Queer

While the noun queer is used as a neutral or positive self-descriptor, it has a long history of pejorative use and is likely to be considered offensive when used by someone who does not identify as queer.

This is all I should be required to honor as the proper use of the noun, queer.

When she was single, my second cousin was shamelessly hypergamous. She was both money- and status-driven. She would only consider dates with men with money and a high-skilled profession. So even a loaded business owner would be rejected. Nice middle-class guys? Out of the picture.
Prospects also had to be Jewish. She wound up with a Jewish dentist. So according to this line of thinking she was racist, classist, and aporophobic. So too with this logic we could describe much of the female population as aporophobic.

Article of possible interest on freedom of association related to thread I read years ago.

From the article.
“To ban discrimination is to ban freedom of thought and freedom of association. Everyone in a free society should have the right to think whatever he wants to think about anyone else and to choose to associate or not associate, in both personal or business relationships, with anyone on the basis of those thoughts. His thoughts may be erroneous, illogical, irrational, or unreasonable, his opinions may be based on stereotypes, prejudice, bigotry, or racism—but in a free society everyone is entitled to his own thoughts and opinions.

It’s queer that someone queer would choose the word queer to identify themselves when queer means strange or odd. If I were queer I wouldn’t choose queer as the term to identify myself but something like magnificent or pizza. Everyone likes pizza. But if people who are queer choose queer as their label, knowing full well that queer is another word for weird, why would they get upset if people think they are queer, as in weird? They think they are weird.

Orrrrrr…everyday folks can stop building and buying places that are bigger and nicer than the top 1% had throughout history.

I think we’ve identified the problem.

Why limit yourself with that “or?” I’d go with “magnificent pizza.”

Reclaiming a slur has some inherent utility in that it strips the word of its power.

Personally, as someone who uses that label, I’m not offended if people consider me weird (I would spend a lot of time upset if I was) but lots of people conflate “weird” or “abnormal” with “bad.” A big part of a queer identity is embracing your abnormalities and not trying to conform into something you’re not.

Neverrrrrrr.

I do what I want.
