Real good workout again. I’m happy that my shoulder is feeling better and numbers going back up. No pain whatsoever!! All the additional shoulder work has clearly helped. I wasn’t really feeling ‘it’ again today, so 7 reps will do just fine.
I’m going to start adding weighted dips, which I haven’t done in a loooong time. Also means that I have to drag my own dip belt (heavy chain) to the gym.
Not sure how much I weigh, but feels/looks like less. The 2 mile morning walks seem to be helping.

i dont know how long are your vacations…but one week off per year is not a bad thing…
ha ha yeah I know! The timing is actually great - the first week of vacation will be my deload. There will be plenty of walking everyday (Disney) and I’ll find other things to do. Two weeks off completely might be great since I’ve been doing this since December.
Uh, not bad. I’m been noticeably low on energy the last couple days. That and I’ve been having gallbladder ‘issues’. Had an ultrasound this morning, so I’ll hopefully know what’s going on later. Just an off day …
doh deadlift
5x135
3x225
5x285
3x325 belt, straps
6x365 PR!!! supposed to do 360
Kroc rows
15x100
20x80
dips
20xbw
bw = 231 (lowest I’ve been in years)
Really good workout all things considered. My bench was slower than usual during warm-ups. Not a lot of back and hip drive. VERY happy about deadlifts … even with straps.
Well I tied my rep PR for military press. Eleventh was not going up. So all in all two weeks off hasn’t hurt. My energy level/endurance has dropped off though. My abz were REALLY sore from doing some odd sets of chins and pull-ups Sunday.

Congrats on your weight loss. I’m at 198, down from 208 3 weeks ago, and I feel you on the energy loss while training. Good thing for caffeine.

ha thanks! I’ve been on vacation for the last two weeks, so wasn’t sure how it would go. I even considered taking weight off or using the same from last cycle. Stupid brain.
Good for you. 10 lbs in 3 wks is a good chunk. I live off of caffeine, especially before my workouts.
Damn Dude, that is awesome. You must be feeling pretty good. Do you have a goal weight you are shooting for?
he he thanks, slow and steady
I AM feeling really good. Have a little DOMS this week after being off for vacation
My current goal weight is 205 … but only because I’m a UFC/MMA fan and think in terms of weight classes. I just know I shouldn’t be in heavy weight, nor should I weigh as much or more than an NFL linebacker
deadlift, DOH grip
5x135
3x225
5x255
5x295 straps
10x335 PR (supposed to be 330; 3 w/o straps)
deadlift shrugs (dl first rep)
10x225 straps
5x10x275
25 min elliptical, level 7
bw = 227
Great workout. Warm-ups felt light and fast, which is rare for me when deadlifting. I was still sore from squatting, so wasn’t quite sure what I had in me. Last couple reps were sloppy. Shrugs were not too difficult, so will go up to 295 next time.
My thoughts on straps: if I can do a couple reps of my top set without straps, then I’m happy. Especially since I use a double overhand grip. Whatever.
!!!
some stupid person put an incline bench under my bar, so I hit it on the way down. I suppose it’s ultimately my fault for not paying attention. Of course those reps were flying up. I took a couple minutes to refocus and came up short of what I wanted. I think I’m getting a home gym …
3x235
dips
5x10xbw
Kroc rows (w/ tricep bar, bar = 10lbs?) straps
8x110
8x130
12x100
db curls
5x55
then
5x45
10x40
20 min elliptical, level 8
Not a stellar performance. I’m bummed about the unnecessary interference. My new row setup gives me some room to add a lot more weight. It is a little awkward dealing with the length of the bar (now I know how Matt K. feels … yeah right)
deadlift
5x135
5x225
3x275
3x315
6x355 (supposed to be 350;1 rep w/o straps)
shrugs
10x135
10x225
3x10x275
25 min elliptical, level 8
Uh oh. Major stiffness/tightness/spasm in my lower back, left side. It was sore there yesterday … possibly from when my 4 year old jumped on my back Wednesday night. Yeah. I’m icing right now and plan on taking it easy all weekend.
I was happy with my performance. All the warm-up sets were nice and fast. Did the first rep of the last set sans straps, just to see if I can handle the weight - which I can. I might have been able to squeeze out another rep or two, but my back was just not feeling right and my form was taking a nose dive.
