The Downside of Being Jacked

I had a friend once tell me that he liked looking at his triceps in the mirror while he had sex with his girlfriend. :joy:

Only two kinds of lifters, those who do that, and liars.

by chance, your friend isn’t oddly into Huey Lewis and the News is he??

He might have been, he was the right age. Forgive me, but was there a video of Huey checking himself out?

Not of Huey, but a real big fan of his.

Sadly my friend died of a massive heart attack at about 45 years old. He was a walking pharmacy. Never saw a steroid he didnt like. Usually ran around 280-300 lbs.

Unintentionally the funniest thing I have read in a while.

Won’t lie I was thinking about how good I felt after pulling 505 the other day while my girl was on top of me today.

Idk why but people always start slamming weights (well pretty much throwing them) whenever I’m working out around them. Macho Man thing? Intimidated? Idk.

Always getting asked at work to move heavy ass shit. My boss will be like ‘you like to workout right?’. Yea, not after I’ve already worked out tho🙄

The biggest downside for me, especially recently, is the fear of letting things slip. I don’t enjoy lifting like I used to (not much at all, really), but I’m compelled to do it because the thought of easing up makes me want to vomit.

I’m not really jacked I guess you could say, but I have giant legs, and occasionally I miss being able to cross my legs. I absolutely cannot do it whatsoever.

@planetcybertron : if your legs are so big that you cant cross them, then you are “jacked” in my book.

I’m not jacked, but comming from an Asian family, my parents (especially my mom) don’t appreciate muscle on girls and actually shame me for my vascularity

Heads up Anna.

Sometimes you just got to what YOU want to do.

My fat brother looked at shirtless me and now he asks me to make a diet and a program for him. Seriously man? A diet, which you won’t stick to and a program you will quit after first time in a gym (he has never ever been to one).

For starters just stop eating and drinking junk, it’ll help a lot already.

Another thing is the fear of putting even a single pound of fat. It was really long journey for me to get a 6-pack. I went from fat years ago (84 kg at 175 cm) to almost anorectic (57 kg). I think you can guess, how hard and lenghty it was for me to get a beach look. When I finally looked in the mirror and said to myself that this is more or less appearance I was going for, I became obsessed. My diet started to be evn more strict than on any of my cuts. I mean strict, not that I’ve had a bigger deficit, it’s just I didn’t want to let go for a single moment. No sweets at all. No fast food. No drinks except coffee and water. No alcohol even when it was time to party. Evenings with firends, people are eating and I am drinking my coffee, looking at them with jealousy. Weighing food and counting single calories (I couldn’t stand when my typical yoghurt was out of stock and had to buy one that had 17 kcal more/100g). I guess it was some kind of disorder that has some nice Latin name. And I caught it not on a diet, but after I was finished with it and went to mainteance.

To be honest I am not sure what criteria one would use to classify someone as jacked or not

I would say 90% of forum posters and 95% of everyone in the future who responds to this thread do not classify, including me.

This is one I had forgotten about, but it’s entirely true. Getting asked for advice is frustrated, especially if it’s just in conversation. Like: you want me to boil down nearly 2 decades of training into a 30 second response? If I get detailed, this is going to be insane, but if I DON’T get detailed, it’s going to be worthless.

One of the worst cases of this for me was getting asked on a cruise ship. Specifically because it was by one of the staff members that encountered me in the gym there. I had zero escape from this dude for the next week, so there was no way I could say “Oh yeah, give me some time and I’ll come up with a plan” and then just blow him off. I legit HAD to spend time on my vacation coming up with a training and diet plan for this dude to get him to stop hounding me. Nothing like a homework assignment on your vacation.

Glad I’m not the only one that does this :joy:

I don’t even feel bad about it. It’s pretty much the litmus test for me on if this is a real thing or not. If I get asked again, I’ll legit put in the effort, because it means it’s not just a flash in the pan moment of inspiration from them. Most times though, it’s just one of those “I should get in shape” moments that tends to pass.

My brother, same deal. He was a great athlete in HS, never really lifted to speak of. I got jacked, he asked me to program 5/3/1 for him. Wasn’t that big of a deal since I had the spreadsheet.

That was three years ago when he was about 210 @ 5’10". He’s up to 230 now, lol.

Glad I didn’t waste my time.
