Did those in the military. I guess I could go that route again
Yup. Saves time on ironing too, if you make them tight enough, haha.
Holy crap, you must be like 9 feet tall if you’re 6’3 sitting.
I’ve wondered if I would be datable if I was single. No young girl is going to be interested in me with my 50+ year old face and age appropriate women would be intimidated when the shirt came off.
Attempting to fit between the twins’ car seats in the back seat of our vehicle.
I’m not necessarily jacked, 6 foot, and about 230 lbs, but at 55 yo, i do get extra attention…

getting Fit-Shamed, and yes, it is a thing. I get different treatment from people who are large and out of shape when I am out in public. Do any of you get that?
-
yes, XXL shirts fit the shoulders, but hang in the gut region.
-
cant fit in a car seat, or an airplane seat for that matter
-
in a social setting there is always someone that wants to tell me about the days that they too would spend time in the gym, but they have a job, family, or they just grew out of needing to be hey-ooge
-
women throwing themselves at me - it’s embarrassing, really…lol
By chance, did you mean to say you are 230lbs?

Different treatment in what way?
The walking skeleton look.
Exactly how I picture a ginger viking such as @Edgy
Emaciated runner look … I hear it’s the new dad-bod
I’m jumping on the bandwagon of how much you bench? I’m not as jacked looking as I was pre baby but still look stronger than a lot of people.
I swear people must think we live to bench or something. I haven’t done a flat barbell bench press in over two years. I just find it boring and have no desire to see that number go up. I tell people I squat more than anything else which is true.
Wow. Epiphany for me.
When I am asked that or how much you lift . I say not enough.
One of my goals is to never run again in my life. Which is weird because my best sport in high school was track (I ran 400-800).
If I want to get shredded I’ll add some sprints but I’d still like to be 80 and say I haven’t ran in the last five decades
I like the Mike Jenkins approach of answering “700lbs”.
It won’t matter what you say: they’ll always just nod and go “that’s pretty good. I knew a guy that could do 800!”
Yeah I have always been amazed at all the all time world record level lifters out there.
beast mode races. I ran 400 junior and senior year which improved my hockey playing. The 800 I attempted once. That’s a tough race man.
Kind of on the same topic as that comment. When I just started in the gym i saw a female cousin of mine at a party who I see once every few years and she brought up she’d been going to the gym now for a few months.
A few minutes later she asked what I could bench and i told her honestly (probably like 40kg) then she told us how much she bench pressed- I can’t remember the number but it was around the raw WR for one of the heavier women’s classes and she is absolutely tiny. At the time I was so impressed until I googled it.
We live in such a hyperbolic world with people prone to exaggeration and fish stories that it’s just an arms race to absurdity. And the unfortunate consequence is that the “standard” just keeps getting set higher, so then people have to keep upping it, and perspective gets completely lost.
Think of Hulk Hogan’s “24 inch pythons!”, when by all accounts he was most likely around 19". Which is a VERY impressive arm size…but not when EVERYONE is claiming at least 20". Or how all pro-wrestlers in general have a “billed height/weight” vs a real one.
Anyone who has abs showing is 3% bodyfat. Everyone sleeps only 4 hours a night. Etc etc.
