Finally, on the video game idea: You’d have to say what genre. Back in the day, a text-based “The gunslinger” might have been good, but I can’t think of a genre to do it justice. There is one on the Stephen King site called Discordia, it’s point and click: http://www.stephenking.com/darktower/discordia.html
Take something like Red Dead Redemption and set it during Roland’s quest for the man in black (ie, the 20 years previous to the start of the Dark Tower) and I’d play the hell out of it.

Good idea. I was thinking playing as the Ka-Tet would be difficult, but someone other than the Ka-Tet but in the same world is a good plan.
I haven’t played it, but just read up on the gameplay and combat mechanics. It would be awesome if manual targetting could be performed a la Time Crisis, but controlling movement freely with a control pad might be awkward.
And possibly an experience system of some kind, although I’m not sure about that idea.
A Dark Tower game could be brilliant.

Maybe put a level or scene in there referrencing the Little Sisters of Eluria would be pretty damn cool
wow really? I’d say he would be perfect except that his accent is pretty damn thick. Still though, I’d rather have a great actor speaking broken English than a fucktard with a perfect American drawl.
Come to think of it, I can’t recall from the books whether or not Roland had an accent or spoke English poorly/differently. I do know that he spoke some other language as well as English. Maybe a heavily-accented Roland would be even more true to the story than an American.

If I remember correctly, he spoke what was referred to as “High Speech” but his Ka’tet is able to understand him. The books also have a lot of spanish undertones in them so I think it might work out well.
It looks like it’s to be released May 17, 2013. Which if you add the numbers =19.

No. I want all unknown actors for this. That way, you’re getting fresh (not too fresh for Roland) faces, no contract disputes, and they can find people who look more like the characters should. Trust me on this: I’ve seen Roland of Gilead in a few guys here in Montana.
I think the animated series on a pay network like HBO or Showtime would be best, though. Kinda how they did Spawn, but it’ll be better because I like this more.
I swear to Chrsit if they fuck this up by writing it for the lowest common douchebag, I’m bombing Hollywood.
I agree.
Sometimes, with casting, Hollywood can be smart (like the 2009 STar Trek movie) and not pick all famous faces, because if they go with all famous faces then the audience keeps thinking “Hey! That’s _____ from ____!” all the time.
Roland could be someone we’ve seen before, but not someone like Hugh Jackman

Wizard and Glass was my favorite of the books. I hope they don’t cast some little pansy as kid Roland, that will ruin the entire thing for me.
Agreed. I dont know enough spanish or british kid actors. DONT Pull some fucker from Harry Potter or Disney channel.
I was thinking the back story in The Wizard and the Glass would be something they cover in the tv miniseries. I like the choice of Javier Bardem, although he doesn’t have blue eyes!
Wastelands was awesome but I’m partial to Drawing of the Three as my favorite … I like the way the doors between worlds was introduced and how they were used. Plus the introduction of Eddie and Detta/Odetta was always great character development to me. Plus the lobstrosities hackin off part of Roland’s hand and foot
I wouldn’t mind Javier Bardem given his acting credentials. I saw an actress they were considering for Detta/Odetta/Susannah (I forget her name) who looks the part (don’t know if she can act though). I also saw they were considering a white actress for her and I nearly threw my monitor to the ground out of rage…
Regardless the scope of this project is bananas … I’m confident that Ron Howard will do a good job … I always liked Opie Cunningham

Polo have to agree the first two books were my favorite also. I always envisioned her as Susannah.

^ as long they cast a black woman who’s not Oprah as Susannah and can act I’ll be ok with it
Agreed but Bassett was a bad ass in Strange Days, when I went back and read the books again a few years ago this is who popped in my head. Susannah was not a wall flower, that was a strong I’ll stab your ass black woman.
