Like the “decision” of who to save? Joker was in a police station, knew that there were plenty of people to save both, gives Bat the choice, and still only one of them makes it. Too convenient.

I am assuming you know the goal was for neither to be saved? I agree with much of what you wrote, but I thought both this “decision” and the one he left up to the people on the boat were both to prove that people were willing to let others die to save their own asses or those of their own loved ones.

If I’m not mistaken police tried to make it to both locations but were too slow. I suspect the Joker knew how to time it. He waited long enough to give them the locations where only Batman would be able to make it in time to save one of them and he intentionally lead him to Dent because he knew Rachael’s death would turn him.

SPOILER!

I read on wikipedia that the joker had told them the wrong addresses on purpose. Meaning batman thought he was going to where rachael was, but the joker knew that he sent him to Dent.

Did you really have to read Wikipedia to get that?

I’m not trying to be a jack ass, but people needed to listen to what was being said. When the joker told the the address to Batman where Harvey supposedly was, Harvey used the same address to explain where Rachel died.

When Gordon asked Batman which one he was going to save, he cleary said ‘Rachel’

I thought that too, and then thought that maybe I misunderstood/misheard what the cops said. I figured they asked him “Who should we save?” or something along those lines, or maybe he knew he was going to save harvey but told them he was going to save rachel so they would show up there to help him.

I’ll see it again this week with a few friends and get a better listen.
Listen to the address that the Joker gives Batman for Harvey, then listen to the address where Gordon’s family is when Harvey has them hostage. They are the same. Then Harvey states that that is where Rachel died.

I cant imagine that they wont, but does anyone know if a part 3 is in the works?

That might be the most redundant question ever.

Is the Sky blue?

Is water wet?

If you prick me do I not bleed?

Had they not made previous Batman movies with butt-cheeks and nippels?

Then yes my firend. There will me more

I honestly wouldn’t want another chapter in the Batman saga. Why? No more Joker, and the way they ended left the audience with mystery on their minds. If they do make another one, I honestly think they will ruin this one.

Not necessarily. Like someone else said, the Riddler could effectively be done on the level that Saw was played (obviously something in its own light) but if the actor was good enough, they could squeeze out at least one more.
For the record, Christian Bale is on contract for two more Batman movies, and the director is on contract for at least one more.

Regarding Bale’s voice: It did annoy me the first few times, but it’s nice to see Superhero movies actually take anonymity seriously.

So this movie is so fucking perfect that we have to nitpick Bale’s voice and acting? Whatever.

10/10 on everything in this movie.

Only one flaw: Heath Ledger died in real life.

Once tickets stop being sold out, i get to see it for free at IMAX…woo!

Saw the IMAX version.
Infucking credible and amazing acting.

agreed, just saw it and read through the entire thread as I don’t really want to repeat what has been repeatedly said.

When Heath died in real life I was like yeah it’s sad that he passed away but didn’t really care. Unfortunately after seeing this film it’s left me depressed in a way, the depiction of the joker was phenominal. I wasn’t a fan of batman until batman begins now they have probably the best movie of the year as the sequel and yet the reason why the movie was so good, is gone.

The fact Heath died I believe he shouldn’t get the award as it’ll feel like it was given to him due to him because he died, cheapening the award.

great movie 4.5/5

now I’m completely oblivious to the comic realm but can you still buy the batman comics? i.e off amazon? as I think I’d like to read more about the joker.

for the record the sequel I can only see it being one of three villians, two face (not sure how they could pull this off, but looking at how they actually made batman a great franchise after the slaughter it was taken to during the 90’s, these guys have the best chance), the riddler(I really like the saw kinda ideas that have been thrown around in this thread) and of course the crocadile guy(as i said oblivious, used to watch x-men, spiderman, transformers when i was growing up) i believe this would be pretty easy to do especially since he suffering from a skin condition it wouldn’t be hard for him to have a vendetta against humanity.

The woman playing rachel was average, not attractive, not ugly, good actor. The thing I enjoyed about this movie when compared to hulk is her and bruce actually had chemistry on screen unlike banner and molly(cant remember her name at the current time) which was horrible

i guess the next T-Nation movie to see will be 007 quantum of solace

btw was anyone berated by previews for jet li and brendan fraiser films that are coming out soon? seems like brendan fraiser died off when his character ben in scrubs, was pun intended scrubbed off

What’s with all the hate for Batman’s voice? Of course it sounds forced - he’s deepening his voice to further conceal his identity.

It should have been mechanical deepend, perhaps with a voice box or something. Like those people with tracheotomy.
Yeah, that’s all we need. Batman sounding like Ned from South Park.

Rumor is that down the line they will be bringing in Robin. On the one hand, this sounds like a simply terrible idea (because I don’t particularly like Robin), but so far Nolan and co. have done a great job with everything. I think killing off Rachel, his oldest friend and love interest, could make this seem possible by creating an emptiness in Bruce that can’t be filled by Lucius or Alfred, but rather by a partner of sorts. This would be especially true if they choose Dick Greyson, because there would be the empathy/sympathy phenomena because both had their parents killed right in front of their eyes.

My $0.02.

I know one thing…unless they got a better guy to play Superman, there is no way a “Superman vs Batman” could take place with Batman being at this level.

Superman Returns sucked to begin with…but in comparison to this, it might as well have been a Saturday morning cartoon.

I am happy these movies are being made. They are setting a template for how to do a real super hero movie.

No more hyper-colored sets with rubber suits that have nipples.

No more childish takes on characters that have fans in their 60’s-80’s.

Ironman, Hulk and Batman have hopefully changed things from here on out.

Now, if they could find someone to play Peter Parker and Spiderman without leaving out what a supreme smart-ass he is, then we would be in business.

I still think they fucked up Venom quite badly. I know it’s the “Parker” arch-nemesis thing, but come the fuck on. Topher Grace is a pussy, Eddie Brock should be some All-American football player.

And where the fuck is Carnage?

I’m kind of intrigued by the Punisher movie set to release later this year. I wonder what the odds are that they fuck this one up too? Oh well, at least The Dark Knight has shown that a movie with dark and violent source material can maintain a PG-13 rating and not be a joke.

Like all movie threads before this one. I won’t open this thread until I see it for myself. I don’t want 1 minute of this movie ruined for me.

I think this would be wise advice for pretty much everyone.

Basically every post in this thread is going to be somewhat of a spoiler to someone who hasn’t seen it yet.

I’ll be returning Saturday around 1am, at which point this thread will probably be like 9 pages long…
Bauer, you’re right, this thread blew up quickly.

I caught a matinee showing at the IMAX theatre yesterday and came away very impressed. Met my expectations coming in, which were very high.

Story was good and had some great dark elements to all of the main characters. Heath Ledger was outstanding as The Joker. Really blew me away.

Aaron Eckhart was also very solid. Bale seemed more comfortable as Batman - and that was coming from a very solid base in Batman Begins.

Best movie I’ve seen this year.

So then I do ask : What are other comic book adaptations that you would like to see get their proper movie-screen justice?

It’s been 6 pages. Someone had to think the movie sucked.

We can squeeze at least another 5 pages out of this if they just come forward now.

At this point…I don’t think anyone will really care if someone thought it sucked ass…because we know otherwise.

Or they’ll say it sucked just to be ‘that guy’.

Yeah just like all the movie critics that gave it bad reviews. But thats why they’re critics and attention whores…I wish I could get a paycheck for my dumbass opinions from time to time…lol.

I wanted to drive down to Austin to slap the shit out off the critic for Austin Chronicle after reading his review…but damn…The Dark Knight is the shit.

well… i dont think the movie was bad but im suprised no one else was distracted by bale’s “batman” voice its the same problem i had with batman begins only this time its worse.
Agreed. I had to keep myself from laughing at one point b/c that “Batman” voice is really bad.

Bale clearly was much smaller than in Batman Begins. Guess he didn’t have enough time between other projects to bulk up. Not that it took away at all from his performance, just an observation.

I wish they would’ve convinced Holmes to reprise her role as Rachel Doss, especially if she was going to get blown to pieces.

Its easily in my Top 5 of all time (at least my own personal favorite movies). Perhaps even GOAT material for me… it is seriously that good. Im just afraid TDK is setting a standard that few comic-book movies (or most movies in general) will have a hard time measuring up to.

I can’t wait to see it in IMAX tonight. It is such an awesome movie.

And for whoever asked, you can definitely buy Batman books on Amazon. The ones by Frank Miller(Dark knight returns, Killing joke) and Alan Moore(year one) are great, and while I havent read them myself, The reviews for the ones by Josh Loeb are good as well (Long Haloween, Hush, Haunted Knight, dark victory). I have many of them on order to read here in the next couple of months.

P.S. - They released the Watchmen trailer in case anyone missed it… It looks like they might be able to pull it off.

For anyone who doesnt think they will make at least one more is kinda wrong haha Its all about making money and obviously you want to make a good movie because who doesnt but its all about the money.

After all the people that went to see this movie, If they think they can even pull off a half decent movie they will make it. You want to know why? because everyone will see it as will everyone in this thread lol

Also for the voice thing I see what everyone is saying but when hes trying to get a ciminal to talk that voice is the perfect thing. It just fits

I can vouch for each and every book mentioned here. It will be money well spent.

This too will be an IMAX movie…can’t wait.
