Just came back from seeing it, one of the best movies I have ever seen. Thoroughly entertaining from begining to end. Heath Ledger totally stole this one, he was excellent. What a great movie.

By sticking it in her pooper?
Ok so I just got back from seeing it my 2nd time and just some things.
1st Is 2face dead or alive? I think he is alive my friends think he is dead b/c they were giveing Dent a eulogy.
2nd Did anyone else notice the “Cat” women referance? “Will it hold up aginst dogs?” “…should hold up well aginst Cats” Maybe im just reading to much into it but why would Fox make a statement like that?

Don’t even open this thread if you haven’t seen the movie. People have given up on the “Spoiler Alert” stuff by now.
I think Dent’s alive. Gordon found out he was alive and decided to lock in Arkham so that he’ll be remembered as a hero and he’ll be getting medical treatment. I assume this is how it would happen.
Fuck Catwoman.

i agree cat women is preety damn sexy if you ask me
Well, I guess I’ll play devil’s advocate.
Let me preface my comments by stating I loved Batman Begins, love comic books, and I’m a pretty easy going guy when it comes to movies.
I thought it was a good, possibly great movie. But there are people in the world who are comparing it to Godfather 2 and Empire Strikes Back as the best sequel ever.
Put the crackpipe down, people…The Dark Knight is a very solid movie, but it has problems. And it ain’t no Empire Strikes Back.
I liked it…but didn’t love it.
In fact, I enjoyed Batman Begins more than this movie.
Yes, there were some serious jaw dropping moments:
Any scene with the Joker, especially when he was leaving the hospital and detonating it (GREAT scene). Dude should get and deserves an Oscar nod.
The introduction of the Bat Bike was very cool.
The 18-wheeler truck scene was decent.
Maggie Gylenhal is hot in a weird way. She looks like she’d do anything in the bedroom, and then some.
Now…my problems with the movie:
Example #1: when the Joker somewhow incapacitated the cop in the interrogation room and took him hostage. Yeah, I know he’s the Joker, but I wanted to see how he did it.
The fight scenes with Batman were weak. They just weren’t impressive to me. Not sure what I was looking for, but something with a little more “oomph.”
The final battle scenes, with the hostages being disguised as clowns, the SWAT team being bad, etc…it got to be a little much. I’m a pretty smart guy, but I gotta gripe here…can’t we just have simpler plot once in a while?
And then the fight with the Joker was a let down. C’mon, the Joker weighs 160 soaking wet, you’re telling me him and a few Rottweilers can take out the Batman?
The ferry scene and outcome was painfully predictable. Who didn’t see that coming?
The plot twists were sloppy. The DA Harvey Dent admits he’s Batman? Commissioner Gordon plays dead? I know it’s a comic book movie…but this got a little ridiculous.
The 2nd act of the film (middle of the movie) is very strong. The the 3rd and final act ran too long. I found my attention wandering a bit in the end. It needed a stronger ending. Batman Begins ended VERY strongly. This movie did not have as much impact and began to wander a bit.
Bottom line: I think it was a very good movie. Christopher Nolan clearly has epic vision and scope when he produced it.
But as far as comic book movies go I enjoyed Spiderman 1, Batman Begins, Iron Man, X-Men 1 and 2, and even Blade a little more. Maybe they were simpler and more enjoyable.
Let the ripping begin.
The thing that amazed me the most about Ledger’s performance was that I really didn’t think he had the chops to pull it off. Let’s face it, when Nicholson did it in the first movie it wasn’t much of a stretch to go from his usual stuff to Jack Napier.
But, I hadn’t seen anything in any of Ledger’s previous work that even gave the hint that he had this lurking inside of him. So I was surprised, impressed, and completely engrossed by The Joker every time he was on the screen.
In fact, my only gripe with the movie is that The Joker doesn’t have MORE screen time. Maybe that’s ridiculous, but that character was the most enthralling portrayal of evil and batshit insanity that I’ve ever seen.
They could’ve made a 4 hour movie of Ledger alone in a room being that character and I would have liked it. Ledger’s Joker always gave me the feeling that something really, really bad could happen at any moment. That created significant tension every time he was on the screen, which carried over to other areas of the film.
I saw the 7pm show with a few friends in a packed theater. When the movie let out there was a line a couple hundred deep to check the next showing. This movie was incredible. I was actually kind of nervous because I was hyping it up in my head and thought that it couldn’t possibly be as good as I hoped. It was better. The opening scene in the bank grabbed me by my nuts and and I didn’t get a breather 'til the movie ended. Ledger was so good they’re gonna have to retire the character. No one can fill those shoes. The disappearing pencil trick was brilliant. I can’t understand the complaints with Batmans voice. He’s a masked vigilante hiding his identity, it’s supposed to sound forced. Everything they intended to portray in this film was executed flawlessly. Acting teachers are going to show Ledgers performance to their students as a study in truly evolving into your character.
You liked X-Men 1 and Blade more than The Dark Knight? Now you’re just being silly.
Harvey isn’t dead.

Ha, A buddy of mine was talking about doing that exact thing.
I just got back from seeing it on IMAX. LOVED IT! I honestly have zero complaints about the movie right now. Maybe after I see it again and have more time to think about it, I might have some criticisms about it, but right now I can’t think of anything.
Heath Ledger was awesome and deserves all the Oscar buzz he’s getting. However, I think we’re forgetting the Oscar talk that I think Christopher Nolan should be getting for directing and writing this masterpiece. Hell, best picture, too! I think it’s dismissive to consider this just a comic book movie. It’s just a good movie on it’s own that happens to be about a comic book character.
One minor thing I loved was that the Mayor was played by Nestor Carbonell, who played Batmanuel on The Tick.
Just saw it. Outstanding.
