They, unfortunately, need to leave The Joker in the 2nd film.

Which sucks, because the Joker is an integral part of Batman. He has always been and always will be Batmans greatest foe.

It’s like a Yin/Yang combo.[/quote]

As I see it the only reasonable way for them to include a Joker-like element in a later movie (not the next one I hope) will be to introduce Harley Quinn as Joker’s daughter or an unrelated young woman obsessed with the Joker. I think the latter option offers a more interesting, less cliched story.

Batman can still be haunted by the Joker’s memory through flashbacks and through the impact Joker has had on others, most notably Two-Face. Obviously Batman second-guessed himself at times in the movie and has done it in the comics too. Joker does not necessarily have to be causing crimes in the here and now for him to pervert Batman’s reality. So long as the questions that a person like Joker raises continue to be present in Batman’s life I think he will have played his role.

I just finished seeing it for the third time, my first on the IMAX. The theatre was over 3/4 filled, and the movie started at 3:40. If you have an oppertunity to see it on the IMAX, do it. I don’t think the Joker should be used again for at least a couple of movies, but they can “use” him by keeping his exploits off screen where we see the aftermath or hear about it.

Honestly, whichever direction Nolan takes it, I’m on board, even if he casts another Joker. The last time I saw a movie multiple times in the theatre was Pulp Fiction, and I was in the 7th grade. This might be my favorite movie of all time.

Darth Vader himself couldn’t pull off cool like that.

Don’t cry. A story will cheer you up. You want to hear about how I got my scars?

Let’s hear this story. I wanna see if you can put a smile on my face.

.

Weird coincidence . . .

In the original origin of Two-Face, the doctor who was needed to fix Dent’s scars was Dr. Eckhart . . .

(cue eerie music)

Does anyone NOT like the movie? Everyone??s saying how it’s ‘flawless’ and making it sound like it was the greatest movie ever made. Seems to me like most people had already made up their mind about how great this movie is before it even came out. It’s FAR from one of the best movies; it shouldn’t even be on the same list as classics like Shawshank Redemption and the Lion King.

I saw the movie the first night it came out. At first I was disappointed, but I thought it was okay. But the more I contemplate over it, the more it bothered me and the more I’m convinced that the movie is trash, along with 99.9 percent of movies that was released in the last 1000 years. It didn’t work for me because they took the whole realism approach and made the whole film look like it could actually take place in a modern city like New York or Chicago and that the characters in it could actually be real people. But the problem is, it’s NOT a realistic story, people are in makeup and masks, and the more they try to make it seem ‘real’, the more unconvincing and ridiculous it appears.

I actually got really weirded out by the fact that a MAN is jumping around in cape and mask while talking really stupidly in that deep, mushy voice saying “HEY I"M BATMAN” and everyone else in the story was okay with it?.I don’t even understand what the hell he is saying. And how come he could jump down from 10 story buildings and doesn’t break his knees? And then you get criminals running around in makeup and the district attorney looking like the robot in Terminator while turning from the most just person in the movie to the most wicked over night? It was vain, unconvincing, totally weird and wacky. Tim Burton’s Batmans worked so much better for me because they were so unbelievable it was believable. The original Batmans were much more stylized, and Tim Burton created a fantasy world where it was realistic for fantasies to unfold and for people to fly, where Christopher Nolan tried too hard to idealize his characters in a reality that seems factual, but is anything but.

Heath Ledger was good, but I thought he was way better in Brokeback Mountain, and should have won an Oscar in it WHEN HE WAS STILL ALIVE. The Joker himself is better than the movie, but still, he got boring after the first scene. Jack Nicolson??s Joker was more believable in a sense that he was multileveled, totally insane, very funny, and that was who Joker was. Heath Ledger??s Joker was one dimensional, rigid, misshapend, disheveled, and takes himself too seriously. He repeated the story about his scar 5 times and for some odd reason, kept licking it when he talks. This film didn??t do Joker any justice since Christopher Nolan had to bend his jolly character to fit the airless atmosphere. The first couple of scenes was dazzling, but it soon got old, and half way through the movie I wasn??t amused.

Two Face was even more problematic. He shouldn’t even be in the movie in the first place, and it appears as if the producers wanted to please the crowd and top the last movie by jamming another villain in there. The consequence was that there wasn??t enough time to develop his character so he could have an impact in the movie. The inclusion of Two Face made the ending limp and sloppy, as they attempted to tie up lose ends with his character, when the whole movie was about the Joker, and should have ended with the Joker. Christian Bale is a good actor, but the Bruce Wayne he portrayed was monotoned and dreary.

Overall, the movie tried too hard to be dark and complex, takes itself too seriously, and as a result it came out all wrong. It was overblown, way too long, muddy, poor paced, monotonous edited and filled with gaps and dead sectors. A lot of people think the movie is deep, but I didn??t give me anything to think about, or maybe it was because I had trouble understanding it due to the poor audio quality.

One of the biggest problems with the movie was the poor sound balance. The dialogues get all mixed up with the music and background noises, and on top of the ludicrous Batman voice, made the plot unfeasible to follow. I constantly had to figure out what was going on, and that took all the joy away from watching a movie. I mean its fine to have a complex storyline and all, but the filmmakers didn’t do a good job making it clear, too much happened too quickly. Finally, none of the characters were worth caring about, I wasn’t emotionaly invovled with any of them, so when some of them came back from the dead, I wished they stayed dead.

Sorry for the long rant, I just don’t see how this movie is considered by so many as “flawless” when there were so many holes in it.

That post is too long to read through, but you lost me at the first paragraph when you called The Lion King one of the classics. How old are you?

How retarded do you have to be to not be able to follow that storyline?
