I’m sorry, I like Depp but think he would be a horrible choice to do anything in this Batman universe. I can’t explain it, but he’s too silly for the world Nolan created. I think the Riddler should be someone outta left field.

Tim Patterson.

Just saw it.
Everybody is saying how awesome Ledger is.
Now, I am not going to knock the guy, because he did a very good job, but you have to give some props to the writers of the story.
No way Ledger came up with ALL of that on his own. They wrote a really amazing screenplay that leaves you thinking afterwards.
Also- more credit needed in Alfred’s department. He was good in the previous movie, and he was excellent is this installment.
Finally- If this movie, starring the Joker was this creepy, the one starring the Riddler may just turn into an outright horror flick.

No shit the writers came up with his dialogue. That’s why they’re “writers”. They wrote the story. The mannerisms and animated physicality was pure Ledger. That’s why everyone is in awe of his performance. He completely embodied that character and put it on an almost unreachable pedestal.

You know what man, I know he’s too old but I was thinking someone like Tim Robbins. Seriously.
P.s. Wol, don’t ever change your avatar again. Hank Scorpio is my hero.

Respectfully disagree here, though. I think Depp CAN pull off dark.

Dude, my next avatar is either gonna be a hot chick with big boobs or masturbation related. Pray that I choose wisely.

So do I, but it’s a different kind of dark, a dark that wouldn’t fit in with Nolans Batman.

Somehow I think you’ve made your decision, and we’ll all suffer for it.

So… boobs or female masturbation huh? Why not both?
How the hell do I preorder the special edition DVD for this?
Also, if everyone liked this movie, check out the current Batman arc - a Joker with the same chracteristics as the Dark Knight iteration, as well as possibly the worst bring-back in the history of comics (makes “Bucky’s been back for a while” look classy) or the best misdirection in any Grant Morrison story ever.
Avoid Batman and Son, though. Only thing we saw was a body-jumping Ra’s and finding out the Sensei is Ra’s pappa. Utterly pointless.

Agreed.
Depp would ruin the feel of the movie.

I just saw something on Fox.news about possible villains for the next Batman:
Johnny Depp as Riddler
Philip Seymour Hoffman as Penguin

Depp as Riddler would be amazing. If theoretically they do go in that exact direction the results could be fantastic. Imagine some deep complex puzzles that have lives on the balance. Could make for some good entertainment.[/quote]
Yeah, that was called “Saw”. ![]()
Bump.
Is Two-Face actually dead? I noticed when I watched to movie for the fifth time that the coin lands face-up when he falls.

He’s not dead. If he’s tough enough to walk around with anesthesia for his burns, then I don’t that fall would kill. Batman survived the fall. Granted, he had armor on. BUT, that doesn’t mean it would kill Dent. He’s probably comatosed and Gordon decided it would be best to hide his body in Arkham.
I knew it.
What about Jim Carry as the Riddler??? oh wait nevermind.

He actually wouldn’t be a bad choice. But, since the first time he played it the overall feel of the movies was much “gayer” I doubt he’d ever get another shot.

I agree. He was pretty good as the character in the movie 23

I’m not totally up on the comic books, but I would think given a buncha OTHER foreshadowing they did that the concept of faking a public servants death for a greater good (like Gordon himself did) kinda put that out there as an option…
and as I said, what better way to have two-face as the main villain in #3 than have him basically come back and sh*t on everything Batman sacrificed by taking the fall, by being a super-villain?
I’m just happy a movie like this was made that was even good enough to have people talk about it for 20 pages.
When was the last time that happened?
